About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am working on my doctorate and trying to travel a bit here and there when I get the chance!

ABOUT ME

I am a pretty easy going guy. I like to smile and laugh and have a good time. I'm a student at the University of Toronto studying for my doctorate in theology - but I wouldn't describe myself as some kind of crazy wacko Christian. I love seeing the world, and have had some pretty amazing opportunities over the past 10 years.

PHILOSOPHY

Trust God, work hard, rest well, and don't be anxious about things outside your control.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my couchsurfing experience has been with good friends letting me crash for a few days at a time. I haven't been able to surf from this site yet, but am looking forward to the good experience!

Interests

I play a guitar and harmonica, and like to sing out a few tunes every now and again. I try to bike on trails when I get the chance, and really enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've become more and more dorky in this area. As for movies, the Lord of the Rings series is still my favorite, but I love a good old Hitchcock film and enjoy most of the award winners every year. As for music, I've become a bigger fan of folk rock and indie-rock lately. Living in Toronto for a time helped me much in that area. My doctorate is in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and I really enjoy reading about the Psalms. I've also been reading more about the Founding Fathers of the USA too, what a fascinating time in world history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite scene so far in my life has been the Golden Gate bridge at sunset. I made it a point to hike along the bay and be able to catch the site as the sun was setting and it was quite breathtaking. I'd love to do that again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been told that I'm one of the easiest people to talk about religion; that is, I try to be honest with how I've come to believe that things I believe, but I also understand that each one of us has come to believe something and that our life experiences have shaped us in profound ways. Perhaps our discussions about life and the world around could teach us both something about ourselves and about the people we interact with.
