About Me

ABOUT ME

My friends would say that I am fun, energetic and that I love to travel more than anything else in the world! I am an American college student studying abroad in Ireland for the semester. I attend Wheaton College near Boston, Massachusetts. I am studying biology, but I am working on a minor in political science and psychology. Last fall I lived in the beautiful Costa Rican rain forest for four months studying tropical biology. I love life and I love to meet new people and I have friends all over the globe!

Interests

People are the most important part of life. The close friends and family you have in your life and all the new people you meet along the way. That is by far my favorite part of traveling. Meeting people from all different cultures and backgrounds really helps to put your own life in perspective. From all my travels, the things I tend to remember most are the moments I shared with other people.
I have been abroad for almost a year now so my time is spent traveling or planning to travel, but when I am at home my favorite things to do are hang out with my friends at school, read and I love to run. I am on the cross country team at my college.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in South Africa we went to the very impoverished town of Soweto. We brought school supplies and candy to give out to the children. I offered a piece of candy to a little boy, but he shook his head and pointed to his friend who had not gotten any candy yet. He wanted me to give the candy to his friend instead. The notion of equality and fairness that came from such a small child really struck me. This boy had very little, but he wanted to make sure that his friend still had as much as he did. From the mouth of babes...
In Costa Rica there was never an exact moment where I was totally awestruck, but the experience I had with the host family that I lived with for a month was extremely valuable. They were extremely welcoming and patient with me(there was a bit of a language barrier). They taught me a lot about Costa Rica and their way of life.
