I want to gain a much more personal understanding of other cultures through direct interaction with travellers.

ABOUT ME

During my year abroad in Germany I met so many people from different cultures that made lasting impressions on me. Meeting people from another part of the world has been much more influential than reading about them from a book or from a movie. I believe that the key to my understanding of different people stems directly from the interaction between us.

I'm currently training for the Navy and hope to be stationed in another country. I hold a particular interest in Germany and people who can speak German. I don't know why, but I just find the German culture very interesting.

I'm outgoing and enjoy meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I don't have my own place, otherwise I'd offer my couch without a problem! But as for now, all I can do is show travellers around Washington or Northern Virginia. (I know many good bars too!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never crashed at a stranger's place before, but in a similar fashion, in Germany I've used the Mitfahrgelegenheit, which is a hitchhiking website that let's you contact random people who are driving towards your destination and ask for a ride.

On the other hand, I have had many foreign exchange students stay with me during their school breaks

Interests

I've played the guitar for 9 years now, but without ever being in a band. I play rock music and a little of everything else.

I like social events and going out with friends to bars, concerts, clubs, or parties.

I love to travel. I've been to many countries and always try to pick up a few expressions while I'm there. I don't like to be "that American" that fits any stereotype.

I'm interested in German culture, history, music, and military stuff.
