ABOUT ME

My name is Xan, it's an abbreviation of Alexander but I've always been known as Xan. I've not failed to say that at the beginning of every social situation I've ever been involved in.
I like football, I'm not sure why anymore, it's absurdly stressful and very often a disappointment but it's a life affliction it seems.
I watch a ridiculous amount of TV and Film, I was partly raised by all the characters I've loved over the years and I'm eternally grateful for it.
Travelling and meeting new people, experiencing different cultures is something I really enjoy.
I doubt I've ever gone more than 3 or 4 days without a plate of pasta.
I can't confirm as a verified fact but I feel that I'm a very friendly, affable, nice, sympathetic, and attentive person.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be as happy, laid back, open and nice as life lets me. I believe in taking risks, trying to make things happen, and being fair to everybody. When I say taking risks, I mean more doing things that might end up being slightly embarrassing rather than jumping out of a plane or something. All the TV, films, books, music have led me to be a bit of a dreamer, hoping for a fairy tale ending.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I finished university in summer 2011. I was always looking forward to graduating, being free from education, exams, coursework etc, I naively thought everything would be really easy, and I'd find a job I'd enjoy but it turns out that I'm clearly a ridiculous fool.
So, I've accidentally had a year out, not working regularly, living back home with my parents, always looking for that dream job, but it's consistently evaded me! The lack of money and consistent employment has prevented me from being a proper person, there's been a lot of frustration and boredom. Thankfully I've found a summer job teaching in Scotland which starts in July, so I want to spend June doing something exciting and happy/fun etc, just in case the job's horrifically terrible or anything, I'm sure it wont be. It better not be! I really want to go somewhere new, meet people, and maybe they could show me around.
Hopefully, I'll be living in France in the autumn, otherwise I'll possibly be stuck at home in Hastings. People would always be totally welcome to stay in whichever place I end up. I'm pretty accommodating I think.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never had any formal CouchSurfing experience but I've stayed on friends couches, they've stayed on mine. I've put up friends of friends of friends, once even those who I haven't shared a common language with, but dramatic hand gestures, music, and alcohol was more than enough for us to all have a a good time still.

Interests

I spend a lot of time listening to music, I once involuntarily tried to live without my Ipod or laptop (they simultaneously broke) for 10 days, I was a wreck, I've become entirely dependent on it.
I watch a lot of football, I read about it, I play it. It's omnipresent but I can definitely appear like this is not the case. I wouldn't dare talk about it to people who I knew were not obsessed with it.

Travel.
Animals, I went to an awful lot of zoos in my childhood.
Going to Pubs.
