About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the joy and greatness in all

ABOUT ME

I'm Australian-born Chinese although after 3 generations I'm really just an Aussie. Also now I'm a naturalised Canadian, though after a 10 year stay, New Zealand is also close to my heart. By training I'm a mechanical engineer and now I work in environmental policy for the industry association of airports. I'm gay and have a French boyfriend, Remy, since 14 years. We moved to Montreal from Auckland, to see more of the world - le gout d'aventure.

PHILOSOPHY

Be empowered in your own life. Choose to speak and act according to your commitments rather than how you feel at that particular moment.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel all over for my job about 12 weeks a year. I often add a weekend or a side trop to my work trips. I'm excited about meeting local people rather than hotel rooms.

Interests

Yoga, tennis, guitar, beaches, national parks, cities, art, food, wine
Vespa, snowboarding, ice skating and Igloofest - Montreal's outdoor rave party in Winter.
My best dish is pasta made from scratch though this is best done at home in my own kitchen. I do my Mum's crispy skin pork pretty well too.
I do like a few drinks - such a social lubricant.
I got the travel bug when I went to study in South Ontario, Canada in 1985.

Music, Movies & Books

Books: The Sea of Fertility (Yukio Mishima committed ritual suicide the day he finished writing it), Macbeth (full of sound and fury signifying nothing)
Movies: The Gold Rush (Chaplin), Dersu Uzala (Kurosawa), 9 tp 5 (Lily, Dolly and Jane), Kath and Kim (nice, unusual, different), Best in Show & Waiting for Guffman (Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest), Volver & Matador (Almodovar)
Music: Dylan, Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Kylie, Electronica - sometimes I want to listen, sometimes I want to dance

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair, Tasmania
Killarney Provincal Park, Ontario, in the fall
Circumnavigate Auckland in a kayak
Berghein nightclub Berlin
Sydney Harbour Bridge climb at dawn
Watching a humpback whale play by our boat for 2hrs - Harvey Bay, Qld

Did you know that the last part of the disc of the sun (about a quarter) can turn green just before it sets? I've seen this so called "green flash" in Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like everyone in the world to learn about Trigger Point massage - there would be less stress and pain in the world, more physical interaction and intimacy. I'm a self-taught amateur and am happy to massage my friends and pass along what I know.

I'd like to learn how to make lamian stretched noodles which I saw in Beijing in 1987.

Countries I've Lived In

Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand
