About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Yammy :) I'm a travel guidebook writer from Thailand and the founder of a content production company (https://www.flyingbear.club) based in Bangkok. When I am not writing or producing videos in my studio, I would definitely go out in nature and are always in search of new places to visit outside Thailand. Prior to founding my own company, I was a senior product writer at Google, a marketing consultant at OgilvyUK, and a credit analyst at ExxonMobil.

Since I just became active in CS in Feb 2019, I haven't got many references here... So, if you would like to find out more about me, you may visit:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, once upon a time. . . .

I have met Jóse de McCormack during my solo backpacking trip in Nepal back in April 2011. Jóse introduced me to Couchsurfing. It took me a while to visit the site and I finally made it on 10th June 2013 to become a member :)

Then. . .

It took me a few more years till I meet Nipa Witchusupaksirikul who was in love with this society. She told me all the great things about CS. I even got to meet her CS's host from Zagreb who came to Thailand! Isn't that beautiful? So, in February 2019 it was, that I decided to become active and wanted to be a part of the CS community. Since then, I have spoken and exchanged my thoughts and plans with many members here and I just can't wait to meet and share paths of lives with my hosts and hopefully my guests in the near future :)

Interests

I like being in nature (prefer cold to hot) and I get energised by being in a vast space. When there is a good chance, I like walking a dog in a park and play with him/her. I enjoy being with big hairy (and friendly) animals. I consider myself an amateur trekker and therefore I would like to trek more and perhaps practice trail running as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I like listening to music of any type that might suit my mood at that moment, ranging from Classical Piano Pieces to Easy Listening, Pop, Hip Hop, Dance, Jazz, Latin, Soul, Reggae, or even Dead Rock when it needs be.

MOVIES:

My love of movie led me to take a short film making class and I have produced one short movie of my own. That time I didn't foresee that one fine day I would set up my own production company and would definitely utilise the skill set that was enjoyed a decade back in the class.

BOOKS:

When I am on the road or before going to bed, I normally grab a book with me. I wish I preferred my own books. But, nah, I would grab someone else's instead. My current favorites are The Moomins and Finding Sisu.

If you wonder what my books are called, the first one was MOVEGuide Bangkok (English), followed by Central and Eastern Europe (Thai) and Finland 101 (Thai). The latter two are best-sellers here in Thailand. I am writing my 4th which is Christmas 101 which I am covering bits of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode a horse on the Andes and danced Tango in Argentina during my South America trek

Teach, Learn, Share

In Thailand, I teach English in a private class when I am around for more than a few months. I also produced and launched TED-Ed Thai channel in Thailand where students (as well as adults) can learn so many things without having to pay and are also having fun learning.

Apart from TED-Ed, I also volunteered as an English Editor at TEDxBangkok. It was great fun and awesome opportunity to meet so many like-minded people who together bring about so many good new ideas and actions.

While I was working at Google, I also got to learn a lot about Google products and would love to share some knowledge and experience with anyone who might be interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Thai language :)
- Thai food cooking :)
- Eating lots of food and snacks together
- Travelsssss
- Book writing experience
- Google working experience
- Ogilvy working experiences
- Many other working experiences LOL

Well, actually all sort of things that we might find in common or anything you would love to know :)
