Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have always preferred staying at acquaintances’ places, even if I had only met them once, and I encourage them to do the same. Although I am new to CouchSurfing-the-platform, I have liked the idea ever since I learned of Pasporta Servo, the Esperantists’ equivalent that (back in the 80s) relied on an annually updated printed catalog.
Interests
Ultimate frisbee, languages, sign language, typography, UX design, hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books
- Books: To Have or to Be (Erich Fromm), Das Glasperlenspiel (Hermann Hesse), The Loom of Language (Frederick Bodmer).
- Movies: Fight Club, Night on Earth, Intouchables.
- Music: La Vela Puerca, Keith Jarrett, Bugge Wesseltoft, Katzenjammer, Kleingeldprinzessin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Learned spinning llama wool from an old lady on the Isla del Sol.
- Trekked the forsaken Mapiri trail through the Bolivian jungle (Lonely Planet: “masochists only”). Never again, though…!
- Trekked across the Andes from Panguipulli (Chile) to Argentina.
- Discovered a long-forgotten Indonesian tea made from the leaves of the coffee tree (i.e. “coffee tea”)
