Sobre Mim
CURRENT MISSION
Crush grad school and get a super sweet job running around in the forests of Queensland
ABOUT ME
I'm outgoing and really interested in everything. Try me. Mostly I like to be outside pushing my physical limits followed up by a cold beer. In my down time I eat books.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't take yourself too seriously. If you can't laugh at yourself then you don't get to laugh at anything and laughing might be my favorite thing of all times.
Por que estou no Couchsurfing?
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used to LOVE hosting couchsurfers when I lived in my first house in Berkeley. My roommate, Paul Raftery, got me into it and took care of everything through his profile (which is why I don't have any references from the time). We rocked a lot of awesome parties at the couchsurfing headquarters when they used to be located in Berkeley and went to a good number of CS events throughout the bay area. I had a string of lame roommates then had a baby so my CS days seemed over. Now I'm asking to surf for the first time while I get my new life set up in Brisbane. Come on Aussies!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosting and going to the many CS events in Berkeley was awesome. CS was still pretty new and it definitely seemed like something I hoped would blow up. Look at us now. SO RAD!
Interesses
I'm pretty much addicted to rock climbing. It basically combines all my other interests into one ball of palm sweating, mind bending awesome. I love to be outside, I love exercise and I love to see new places. I love biology and geology. I'm also bit of an adrenaline junkie but that's starting to wear off as I get a bit older.
I'm also a major science nerd and I'm way into science education and outreach.
All types of books from mega intense non-fiction accounts of genocide to Tom Robbins. I like to mix it up so that I don't get to cynical about mankind or find myself too much in a bubble of fiction.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros
This is impossible. Yes books, yes music and yes movies. I'm open to anything. I suppose my main filter is that it needs to be.... raw would be the right word. Raw, as in it needs to come from the heart and put through very few filters if any. I want to read/hear/see the emotion. Fuck that pop crap. Okay some of it actually good, but it always lacks soul and that's what I crave most.
Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz
Climbing the face of Half dome in Yosemite National Park then catching my daughter the day she was born in the same month goes down as the most amazing month of my life.
My favorite travel adventure was buying a leaky canoe from an indian in the amazon and paddling that shit down river for 7 days, sleeping in the jungle at night, and getting arrested basically for being white and way out of place when we got to our destination.
Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe
I'm WAY down with the idea of CS being a space for mutual education and exchange or ideas/cultures/lives. If you want to learn anything about wilderness survival, rock climbing, backpacking, biology (from molecular to environmental), I'm your man.
