About Me

Seize the day.

Hi there! My name is Yanna, I was born and grew up in Germany. I graduated from school in 2012 and spent the year after working as an Au Pair girl in Brighton. During my time as Au Pair, and afterwards, I travelled through Europe a lot and discovered how happy it makes me to "stray" in the world as a backpacker and meet people from other countries. Unfortunatelly I've only covered Europe so far, but I'm highly motivated to change that as soon as possible! At the moment I'm back in my hometown studying at university (Media and English/American Studies). I would really appreciate it if you offer me a place to sleep and give me a chance to get an insight in "the way you live" in your hometown or homecountry. I think the people who know me would describe me as a nice and helpful person, empathetic, creative, often dreamy and somewhat clumsy and unorganized. I was told that I radiate an "artistic spirit" (one of my favourite things someone said about me, I hope that's true ^^).

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I don't have a lot of Couchsurfing experience yet, but the ones I've had so far were really good

literature, art (especially photography), writing, foreign languages, traveling, having a good time, discovering things, meeting people from other countries, the British accent, good movies and artists, Spike Jonze, getting periodically obsessed with things (like for example becoming as good a director as Spike Jonze),...

Music, Movies & Books

I listen to a bit of everything. I love Coldplay for example, Arcade Fire, La Roux, The Cure, Tegan and Sara, Mika, Depeche Mode, The Beatles, Regina Spektor, The Kooks, Phoenix, Chvrches, Daft Punk, many, many soundtracks and and and...

Some of my favorite movies are The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Boat that Rocked, Her, Kick Ass, Atonement, Her, Nowhere Boy, Boys don't cry, We need to talk about Kevin, The Graduate, Into the Wild and most Steven Spielberg and Woody Allen movies. I also love watching "old" movies and series in generally. I'm quite into the Sherlock Series (BBC) and Breaking Bad.

I read a lot of american and british "classics" and coming of age stories, my favourite novels are A Separate Peace, The Perks of being a Wallflower, The Catcher in the Rye, Fahrenheit 451 and everything written by John Green and Ira Levin. I don't read that much German literature, but I love Kafka.

Teach, Learn, Share

Uhm let me think..if anyone wants to learn German, I can help you with that :). The other way round I would be happy to learn some words or phrases in your language. I can also show you the recipe for the best chocolate cake you will ever have eaten :P. I know loads of old movies and series and a lot of movies, books, music and artists in generally, if you need some inspiration :).
