I'm Yannick, 23, from Austria, and I'm new in Beijing.
My goal here is to improve my Chinese as I'll be spending a semester abroad in Shanghai in the end of the year.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never actually surfed or hosted.
My first contact with Couchsurfing was during my 3-month stay in London in 2014. The weekly meetings in Holborn were an absolute blast and I met a bunch of cool people. Every week you'd see your friends from previous meeting but also many new faces.

Intereses

Football.
I used to play competitively in a team for many years until I stopped two years ago.
My favourite team is AC Milan.

Running
Nowadays, I run every day. It's a great way to explore new areas, get some headspace and also listen to audiobooks and podcasts.

Languages
Language learning takes up a big chunk of my day. I could talk about this topic for ages.

Música, películas y libros

Music:
German rap
It might sound weird but for me the more insulting a song is, the better it is.
Many people look down on music like that without ever realising what kind of skill and finesse is necessary for putting together a song like that.

Movies:
Not a movie person at all.
I mostly watch TV series. It's very difficult for me to actually start watching a new series even though I know for a fact that it's going to blow me away. It literally takes me ages to gather that 'courage' to finally do it. Unsurprisingly, I almost always end up loving the show.
Discovery (and guilty pleasure) of the year: Family Feud

Books:
I really should read more. I'm so fucking proud of myself for completely finishing a book recently. I think that pretty much sums up my reading habits

Snuck up the fire ladder of a luxury hotel in Saigon until I reached the 17th floor where, after I politely asked for a towel at the front desk, I enjoyed a swim in the rooftop swimming pool with a view over Saigon at night

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Right now I'm obsessed with Chinese because I'll do a semester abroad in Shanghai so if you speak Chinese, I'll be all over you :-). I'm already fluent in German, English and Russian and could teach you a bit.

I'd like to learn about young people's everyday life all around the world - meeting friends, hanging out at bars, clubbing, university life, etc.
