About Me

Currently travelling around the world with my partner, Phuong. We're starting off in Nov 2025 in South America... right down the bottom of Patagonia. We're working our way North through the Americas and then heading to Asia...

I'm a good guy, a bit quirky perhaps but always nice and kind. Wide intellectual interest and my tendency to go on about certain philosophers. If this ever happens, just tell me to be quiet - I won't be offended!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting people, hearing about their experiences and what they think. I've enjoyed hosting people in the past, but now it's my turn to ask for some space to crash!

Interests

Most of my weekends are spent walking or running through the hills, with evenings watching local bands and performers. I love reading a variety of things: poetry, philosophy, politics, economics... and I really enjoy cooking, even if I'm not the greatest cook in the world!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the pandemic lock down, unable to travel, I cooked food from a different country each week - a sort of way to explore the world without physically travelling. I called it "80 dishes around the world" and cooked over 200 dishes from 80 countries. Some were not as successful as others, but some of my lasting favourites are Iranian ghormeh sabzi, Macanese "African chicken", and several Korean kimchi-based dishes

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to teach the food dishes I can cook with anyone.

I can share my love of philosophy with hosts, if they want to learn or practice philosophy more. I would hesitate to say "teach" as I think philosophy has to be an active undertaking, rather than something which is just learned.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to cook for hosts: we both cook a variety of dishes, mainly Asian (everything from Lebanon to Indian, Chinese to Malaysian).

We both work in data / statistics, so can help out with any problems in that area if that is of interest!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Chile, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
