About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live, learn, and love while improving myself and the world around me
ABOUT ME
Hello Couch Surfers! My name is Yaron. I'm a Software Architect at Crypteron, a cyber security company I co-founded. I also run a company called Trestian that does custom web development and online strategy for small and medium sized businesses. I also play keyboard in a hip rockin' reggae gypsy blues band called Royal Heart. I love to travel, write, sing, run, draw and get to know great people!
I was born in Israel, grew up outside of Boston, went to school in Connecticut, lived in Manhattan for 2.5 years, and spent a year living in Boston before moving to San Diego in March 2011.
I spent all of 2009 backpacking and have used what I learned from that experience to make a travel site called Connected Traveling at www.contrav.com. Having my own company allows me to take a lot of mini trips around the country but I really yearn for the days where I'd spend months at a time on my own in a foreign country. One day!
I love to cook (especially Asian and Middle Eastern), read (constantly), have political and philosophical discussions with old and new friends, share ideas and new music, and find what makes interesting people tick.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to maintain balance in every aspect of my life. I'm a big believer in improving myself everyday as well as helping others do the same be it on a personal, business, or relationship level. I'm very introspective and driven and hold myself to a high standard.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While I haven't used the Couch Surfing website a ton myself, I've hosted, fed, and played tour guide to numerous people in need of a place to stay over the years both in NYC, Boston and now San Diego. Hospitality is a big part of my culture and upbringing and I'm a big believer of paying it forward.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
To be honest, I've never had to use this site before to find a place to stay for myself. I've been fortunate enough to rely on friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends who have all been incredibly generous to me over the years of me moving around.
