Hey!

My name is Yevheniy, I'm 25 and at this time I live and work in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Both my wife and I really love to travel and we've visited tons of places in Ukraine, but not that many abroad (just yet!)

Nevertheless, we have a bunch of international friends from all over the world whom we've met when participating and organizing different summer camps, conferences, seminars and international programs.

One of those programs was a rather long one - I got to spend an academic year in San Antonio, TX when I was a high school student and the experience was more than amazing. I met a lot of of wonderful people who have become a second family to me. I also got to travel around the Midwest and the South a and the trip to the Grand Canyon was most miraculous of all! There's nothing like seeing lightning in the desert - it's stunning in all possible meanings :)

We love hosting our friends and friends of our friends and we'll be happy to make new acquaintances. Even though, we're fairly new to Kyiv, we'll be happy to show you around this magnificent city with amazing history and lively spirit.

This fall, we'd love to try couchsurfing on our trip from NYC to San Antonio, TX. We're open for new acquaintances and adventures and we'll surely make your day fun and interesting with our stories from the other part of the world!

It's going to be a new experience for us and I'm sure it can help to understand the place where you staying in a lot more new ways than just spending a night at a hotel. A city is all about the people who live there and only by making friends with local citizens can we fully grasp the soul of the land.

Interesses

I really love doing different things, but discovering the world is my favorite one.

Last year, my wife and I have tried mountain hiking and we've fallen totally in love with the Carpathian mountains. It was love at first sight. Breath-taking views and amazing local culture make you want to come back this place again and again!

I like listening to alternative and indie rock music as well as all sorts of Ukrainian music (folk and modern).

My favorite movie is "Forrest Gump" - it's an amazing guide through American history, culture and people. I think, I've watched the movie more than 10 times and every time I love it more and more.

Weirdly enough, I haven't read the "Forrest Gump" book and I'm literally going to Amazon after I finish writing this and downloading the Kindle version.

The book which has totally turned my world upside down recently was "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. You just see the world and people completely differently after reading this book and you understand them better, too.

Climbed the highest mountain in Ukraine (2,061 m) and visited the "White Elephant" observatory which is the highest built structure in Ukraine (located on the Pip Ivan mountan which is 2,028 m high).

I've actually worked as an EFL teacher for about 3 years and during that time I taught Russian to our American instructors as well. I can definitely teach you some Ukrainian and Russian along with best hacks to remember foreign words :)
