I am at home in Gießen (Germany), where I used to be a research assistant and lecturer in English (historical) linguistics. Currently I'm a young father (so sorry, hosting is only possible on special occasions...) and hoping to finish my dissertation/PhD soon.

I like to spend spare time either with my wife and/or kid or with a good book - good movies (it seems I've missed a lot since parenthood), CDs (yes, I still buy them) and a Nintendo DS aren't that bad, either.

Musically, I am into styles such as folk, neofolk, doom metal, and dark ambient (as well as some movie soundtracks and operatic goth and, well, the list goes on).

I like to make omelettes.

I sometimes attend conferences or give guest lectures etc. at other places around Germany.

My wife and kid are gone for a few weeks, during which I'll be happy to be a host for the first time...

I have a soft spot for doom metal, depressive folky stuff, post-rock (Sigur Rós), ambient, technical thrash, grunge rock, soundtracks, you get the picture...

MOVIES: Sci-fi and fantasy, weird and outside-the-box stuff like "Memento", monumental movies, Kubrik, Lynch, etc. And the occasional Marvel adaptation...

BOOKS: too many to list...
(most important to me are the Bible, the writings of the Inklings (esp. C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien), George MacDonald, good poetry, medieval literature)
