Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Yoav, an Israeli traveler currently exploring Asia with a backpack and an open mind. I’ve been moving through Japan, South Korea, and China — soaking in cultures, learning local phrases, hiking mountain trails, and meeting incredible people along the way.
I’m a curious person who thrives on meaningful conversations, spontaneous adventures, and those moments when strangers become friends. I can be a bit quiet at first, but once I open up, expect humor, insight, and probably a philosophical tangent about travel or life 😄
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because hotels don’t come with human connection.
I love seeing a city through the eyes of someone who lives there — the hidden food spots, late-night talks, cultural insights, or even just a shared meal. Couchsurfing turns travel into something personal and unforgettable.
I’m not here just for a free place to sleep — I’m here to share, learn, and connect.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a big part of my life. I listen to a mix of Israeli hip hop, mizrahi pop, indie, and chill funk. Lots of popular Israeli artists and some lesser known indie bands are usually somewhere in the mix. If it hits the right mood — emotional or just something to move to — I’m in.
I’m not really a movie buff, but I’ve liked stuff like Interstellar, Joker, A Quiet Place, All Quiet on the Western Front, Bird Box, and Wonder. So a mix of intense, emotional, or just a bit weird. I’m not into explosions for the sake of it, but I’ll watch anything with a good story.
Books-wise, I’ve been getting into topics like psychology, Buddhism, or just anything that makes you stop and reflect for a bit. Simple writing, deep ideas.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I trekked solo through the Tibetan Plateau, staying in remote villages, hiking at high altitudes, and getting invited to share yak butter tea with monks in a mountain monastery. It was equal parts exhausting, humbling, and unforgettable — and it taught me how much connection can happen beyond language.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
I can teach you some Hebrew, how to make a killer Israeli dishes, or share travel hacks for getting around Asia on a backpacker budget. I’m also happy to share what I’ve learned about meditation, Buddhism, or navigating different cultures solo.
Learn:
I’m always curious about how people live, think, and find meaning. I’d love to learn your language, your favorite recipe, your local customs — or even your philosophy on life. I believe everyone has something to teach me.
Share:
Stories, music, food, and laughter. I’ll bring openness, respect, and hopefully something you haven’t heard before. If you’re into deep convos or just want a good laugh over street food and a beer, I’m in.
What I Can Share with Hosts
-Travel stories from across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond
-Hebrew (if you want to learn!) and some survival Mandarin
-Some homemade food I learned how to make from my travels 🍜🥟🍣
