Overview
About Me
Just getting resettled in Western Washington after having been away for several years. I've lived in many places throughout the US and have decided the Pacific Northwest suites me best.
I enjoy the outdoors, particularly hiking and mountain biking. Also kayak, ski, snowshoe - anything else that gets my heart pumping. Love the outdoors.
My work takes me away from home, typically during the summer/fall months, I monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. It's great work - I'm outside and have much autonomy. But it also means I have to go where the construction project is. As of this writing I'm finishing up in Olympia Washington and next month I head for Boise Idaho.
The advantage of this schedule is I have winter months off during which I enjoy my hobbies, one of which is traveling. I haven't decided what to do this next winter. Mexico? Southeast Asia? I'm taking my books with me to Boise and will ponder the options.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has opened new opportunities for meeting folks where I have traveled to. Made a couple great contacts and hope to continue that trend.
Once I'm settled into my new space here, I expect to open my home to fellow couchsurfers. I hear from other hosts how wonderful it is to meet travels from all over.
Interests
I like outdoor activities (biking, running, hiking, etc) and prefer warmer climates. I stay pretty fit and try to eat right, though a beer or two has passed my lips before.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The first that comes to mind, while assisting a graduate student studying den habits of black bears I climbed about 70 feet (~20 meters) up a tree in Tennessee to see a black bear in her den. There were three cubs right there within arms reach while the mother bear slept.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've explored the local hikes quite extensively and have figured out the bus system to get to downtown Seattle. There's much to do here in Issaquah for a short visit.
I'd enjoy trading guitar songs with anybody inspired to do so.
What I Can Share with Hosts
