Overview
About Me
Hi, my name comes from 上杉鷹山, Yozan Uesugi, a Japanese prefectural statesman in Edo era. No deep reasons for the choice, I just like how playful it sounds: whiskey & Yokan. If you wonder, Yokan is a Japanese sweet :)
I grew up in Shanghai and spent most of my adulthood in the UK. Now I live near Cambridge, England.
I work in academia, am a programmer, and devote my career to improving human health.
I am working on my blog on Note: https://note.com/whiskey_yokan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I taught myself the Japanese language to N1 level without having lived in Japan or taking any course. It took 12 years and is still continuing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am establishing research engineer as a business model for pushing academic research forward. Let me know if you'd like to have a discussion!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am new here on the site but I have been travelling, both solo and in groups, for quite a long time. If I know you and we become friends, I am very happy to host you back here in Cambridge, UK.
I also studied in both University of Cambridge and Durham in England, and can introduce you to the application process and some of the projects that I've been done.
I am quite easy going and curious and love conversations. I speak English and Japanese fluently. I can also speak Mandarin Chinese but I prefer conversing in the previous 2 languages.
