Overview
About Me
I'm a Seattle native who likes to think of himself as curious, thoughtful, and polite.
My sincerest apologies in advance for the lunacy of the US government.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best part of traveling to new and unfamiliar place is by getting to know people there.
I love to hear perspectives on everything from local culture to current events.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Lately I've been reading a lot of non-fiction about places that I've recently visited or plan to visit. Otherwise, I tend to enjoy books on social science subjects (economics, demography, anthropology) and poetry.
Music: I'm pretty eclectic in my enjoyment of music, everything from electronic music to folk and pop rock. I'll likely ask for recommendations :-)
Movies: A few films from recent years I've really enjoyed: Past Lives; The Rider; Love, Simon
Teach, Learn, Share
I have extensive knowledge about the history, cultures, political economy, and geology of the American West. I've traveled through almost every part of the region, including some of the remotest.
If you're planning to visit a US National Park, I may be able to provide some good advice. I've visited 39 of 63.
I've fallen in love with South America and have spent a part of most recent years living in Brazil. For those inclined to travel there, I can provide some guidance.
What I Can Share with Hosts
