About Me
CURRENT MISSION
ABOUT ME
Currently at university in London on a course entitled 'War Studies'. I'm not an aspiring dictator/warlord/arms dealer or anything like that, I just like international politics.
When I'm not nerding out over who's invading who I'm commonly found fraternising with the general public at bars/clubs/pubs/house parties. Or, if it's the day after, I'll probably just be mooching around at home, drinking coffee, reading magazines n books, and listening to tunes.
I'm not the sort of person who would ever shy away from a social situation, in fact, I make a habit of actively searching them out - hence why I'm on Couchsurfing in the first place I suppose. I'm also not the kind of person who would use their phone whilst in the company of others.
I am the kind of person who enjoys conversations that go on late into the night. Perhaps you know the ones. Chatter that skims from topic to topic seamlessly with short breaks for laughter, punctuated with spontaneous grinning and culminating in raucous cheer before peace is made with the night and sleep is reached with intangible ease.
Or something like that.
PHILOSOPHY
Just do good.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sadly I live in university accommodation at the moment.
This means that I don't even own a couch - not particularly handy for those wishing to stay, and although I am a sociable person, I'm probably not totally 100% up for sharing my one bed with someone I met purely through Couchsurfing. There are probably far better places to stay, in fact, I know there are! Student halls are rubbish.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Did a couple of weeks whilst in Berlin last Summer.
I went there with an eye to living in the city and ended up moving in with the friends of one of the people I surfed with. It all worked out pretty fantastically.
Interests
Music. Massively so.
I like to make it, DJ with it, read about it, write about it, and share it with friends.
It's probably been the defining interest of my life so far, and I quite intend to keep it that way.
BUT, I do have other interests too, I promise I'm not just a total music drone, although if you are a bit of a music drone, then I would very much like to drone with you.
Outside of musical happenings, I enjoy going to art exhibitions (not just for the free wine on openings), I love to read, I sometimes draw stupid cartoons and one of my chief hobbies is writing. All this is deliciously compatible with my taste for exploring cities and pursuing general larks in new places.
Oh, and I am a very, very big fan of coffee. If you let me surf your couch I'll bring some of the good stuff over.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most forms of electronic music. I moved to Berlin last year specifically for the club scene. Techno, House, Ambient and Downtempo are my mainstays though. However, I also love Indie (in pretty much all its forms), Post-Rock and Hip-Hop (particularly where jazz has been involved in the making of the beats).
Apologies if this has bored you, I'll just drop my last.fm here:

When it comes to books, I'm still working my way through as many classics as I can get my eyes on. In my experience, however, I seem to mostly enjoy books from the mid to late 20th century. (Yes, I am aware how vague that is, sorry)
Whenever people start talking about films I tend to get a vocal tick that goes something like, 'I really need to watch more films'. Although when I say that, what I don't mean is, 'I need to watch whatever Holloywood has churned out this week'. I'm more about discovering thought provoking independent cinema. I bought a copy of Little White Lies once. It baffled me. Definitely room for improvement here.
That said, I've not entirely neglected moving images as a medium. I am a self-confessed British comedy nerd. Sitcoms and sketch shows are my bread and butter. I also have a deeply passionate love for American cartoons (King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Adultswim shows) and I also read quite a lot of webcomics too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Me and my friend made a tune together that got played on Radio 1. Needless to say, we were pretty hyped.
