About Me

I grew up in Chongqing, southwest China. It is a mountainous area with numbly spicy food and hot summer. I didn't realise its influence on me until I left: I love mountains, peppers and summers!

I went to university in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, not far away from Chongqing. It has a calmer vibe with its plain terrain, parks and tea houses. We say "少不入川" in Chinese, meaning that you shouldn't go to Sichuan when you are young, because it is such a comfortable place that you will lose your ambitions. I went anyways, and I like the chill attitude it brought me.

After graduation, I lived in Cairo and Paris, and now I am in NYC. I enjoy the new energy each place gives me.

For traveling, restaurants are always a big part of my trip research, and I normally would just walk around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

cultural exchange, immersive traveling, local experience, meeting new friends

My first couchsurfing experience was in Luxor, Egypt. Together with the host, my friends and I had beautiful time having bbq on the rooftop, appreciating ancient temples, and chatting on the sunny balcony. Those moments were really of an ideal kind.

Hopefully I will start couchhosting soon when I am back in Paris next February. Stay tuned.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have a strong preference. But I do enjoy a bit more:
rock, techno, jazz and afrobeat
sci-fi, thriller/crime and fantasy
social science and nonfiction

I highly recommend How to with John Wilson. It is a fun to realize that you are living in such a chaotically interesting place, and it makes you want to be out the whole time exploring and observing the city yourself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

⛺️ Camping under the stars at white desert in Egypt
🏂 Learned snowboarding in Serbia within four days (a lot of tears on that icy slope; since I come from a southern city, it was my first time seeing so much snow)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am curious about many things, and currently trying to master bouldering! We can try new things together.

We can explore your city together. With an eye of an outsider/observer, you can always find something new.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Chinese culture especially homemade Chinese food!
A calm and chill vibe; an active attitude.

Countries I’ve Visited

Azerbaijan, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Egypt, France, United States
