ABOUT ME

Hello All! i'm a squarely middle-aged but young & fun at heart zen meditator and all around adventure seeker. i'm turning 49 this year, and going on my first all around the world travel, after selling a house. as the song says, i'm trying to throw my arms around the world. my pal in portland, oregon, lolly rae, is a big user & proponent of this site, and turned me on to it for my travels. i love most all kinds of music, especially alternative, singer/songwriter, rock, old-school folk, classical, jazz, and the gypsy jazz of django rheinhardt. i play some guitar (tho' not well, but i still enjoy it), enjoy yoga, and am a huge film/movie/media/internet buff (check out the twitter account i started: http://twitter.com/140moviereview). and of course, i lover of where i'm starting from and where i shall return, portland, oregon, u.s.a. known a bit of a caustic wit, all meant in good fun.

films: cronenberg's/burrough's "naked lunch," gilliam's "the adventures of baron von münchasen," "yellow submarine." recent faves: "a serious man,"

music - django rheinhardt, and all artists gypsy jazz, like robin nolan, gonzalo bergara, kruno, wrembel, the rosenbergs, lagrene, etc., tom waits, the decemberists, radio head, arcade fire, art brut, pete krebs trio, the stolen sweets.

books - reading john hodgman's "more information than you require," read a lot of stuff like "zen mind, beginner's mind, went through all the "harry potter" books in a tear each year they came out and of course i love the films, read a lot of on-line non-fiction (news junky), "the tatooed girl" by joyce carol oates, most anything by tom robbins, just finished alice sebolds "the lovely bones" (now ready to go see the movie!).

geez - i've done quite a bit. can i come back to this? i did meet frank zappa once — a year before he died, quite by serendipity. very nice, gracious man.

yes, please. i'm always willing to give a go at generalist personal computer/software help. i can help out in gardens and such, if you point me at what needs doing and give pretty good instructions on what you need. i can show you what i know on guitar, but then what will we do with the other 23:45 of the day?
