About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to decide where to live next...

ABOUT ME

We, Yuki and Motoko, had been away from Japan since 2003 for 5 years, travelling and living in other countries. We came back to Japan in 2008 and are settled in Kyoto, Motoko's home town since then.

To describe our 5-year-trip roughly;
2003-04: we volunteered 7 months in Australia. 2004: we travelled for 10 months from Australia to China. 2005: we studied Chinese in Yunnan province, China. 2006-07: we worked in Shanghai for a year and a half. 2007-08: we travelled for a year from China to Europe overland and then to Africa for a few months before coming back to our home country in Oct. 2008. Yuki has published several books about this journey.

We'll be glad to meet a lots of travelers, especially who would enjoy or don't mind being with small kids, as we have two daughters, 8 and 4 years old.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We had been hosted several times, mainly in European countries during our long journey, and really had lots of fun! And Yuki often contacts people through CS when on business trip to meet locals. It's a great way to get to know people and the country much in depth!

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: documentaries, comedy and others, but too hard to name them...
music: we don't listen to noizy music, more into slow and relaxed ones ex. Jack Johnson,
books: We read mainly Japanese writers work, so maybe not so many people can recognize their names but what about Haruki Murakami? We're not used so much to read English books, but it's sort of our mission to start doing so.
