About Me

Hey there! I’m Yulánderson (but you can call me Yul) 😊
I’m 30 years old and currently enjoying life on the sunny coast of Colombia. 🌴🌞 I’m a chemical engineer with a love for exploring new cultures, learning languages, and indulging in delicious food from around the world. My adventures have taken me to the United States, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia, giving me the chance to embrace the rich diversity of people and places. Sending all my love to my Arab, Brazilian, and American friends out there—you’ve all left a big mark on my heart. ❤️

During the week, I work from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so we’d leave the house around 6:20 a.m. You’re welcome to return after 6:00 p.m. Weekends are more relaxed, and I’d be thrilled to explore Cartagena with you! Whether it’s beaches, islands, or hidden gems, we’ll create unforgettable memories together. During January students are on vacations, so my schedule might be very flexible as I work as professor.

Welcome to my humble home in the southern part of Cartagena! It’s a bit away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, the beaches, and tourist attractions, but it’s a peaceful place to relax and recharge. Downtown is about 14 kilometers away, which translates to a 45-minute bus ride or a 30-minute Uber trip.
Heads-up: my house doesn’t have air conditioning, so you’ll get a full taste of Cartagena’s warm and tropical climate! 🌡️ But hey, that’s all part of the adventure, right?

If you’ve made it this far, include the phrase “Que viva el Ruttosound festa della birra” in your message. Why? Because this Italian event combines two of my favorite things: beer drinking and burping contests. Yes, you read that right! 😂🍻 Please read also the Home section and description.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe there’s nothing more enriching than sharing experiences, stories, food, and culture with people from around the world. Couchsurfing is the perfect platform to connect with others and create unforgettable memories!

It’s also a fantastic way to practice languages. My native language is Spanish, but during my time at university, I’ve been learning French and English. I’d love to improve and exchange language skills with you—it’s always exciting to learn from others while teaching a bit about my own culture and language! 😊

Interests

I’m open to all kinds of activities and love trying new things! I enjoy drinking, eating, playing video games, listening to music, and having great conversations. 😄

For me, Couchsurfing is not just about traveling—it’s about connecting with people and learning from them. Everyone has a unique story to share, and I truly believe there’s always something to learn from others. Whether it’s discovering more about different cultures, diving into local history, or simply sharing a laugh, every interaction is an opportunity to grow.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, reggae and electronic are my go-to vibes, but honestly, I enjoy all kinds of music. 🎵 There's always a beat or melody to fit the moment!

For movies, I’m a big fan of action and suspense. There’s nothing like a gripping storyline or a good adrenaline rush to keep you hooked! 🎬

As for books, I’ve loved diving into the magical world of Harry Potter, but I’m open to exploring different genres. If you have any good recommendations, let’s talk about them—I’d love to hear your favorites! 😊

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’m not sure if it was incredible or just a bit crazy—but it’s definitely unforgettable! Growing up in a tropical country without seasons, I had never experienced winter before. Then, I decided to dive right in... not once, but twice in the same year! 😄

My first winter adventure took me to Europe and the Middle East in January, where I experienced cold weather for the very first time. It was such a surreal and exciting experience! Later that same year, I traveled to the Southern Hemisphere—Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil—just in time for their winter season.

So, I ended up having two winters in a single year! ❄️ It was a mix of wonder, chills (literally), and learning how to adapt to something completely new.

Teach, Learn, Share

First of all, I’m a professor! 😉 If you need help with anything related to basic sciences or engineering, I’d be more than happy to lend a hand. Sharing knowledge is something I truly enjoy.

Secondly, I’ve traveled extensively across Colombia by car, boat, and plane, exploring its beauty from many angles. If you’re curious about Colombia—its destinations, culture, or hidden gems—I’ve got plenty of tips and stories to share. Let’s chat! 🇨🇴

Last but not least, I love to cook! While I wouldn’t call myself a master chef, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen whenever I get the chance. If you’re up for it, we can exchange recipes or even cook together—great food always brings people closer. 🍲

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing stories, whether it’s about my travels, life experiences, or cultural anecdotes. There’s always something interesting to talk about! 😄

Also, if you're up for it, I’d be happy to cook something for you! I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, and I’d love to share a meal with you. It’s a great way to bond and experience new flavors together. 🍳
