Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Yumin, I’m 25 years old, and I currently work as an operations staff member at Coto Japanese Academy in Shibuya, Tokyo.
I’m a curious, cheerful, and warm-hearted person who genuinely loves people, cultures, and languages!
I’ve lived in Canada for one year, Korea for one year, and the U.S. for four years. I speak Japanese, Korean, and English — being surrounded by different languages and cultures truly makes me feel alive.
Nature is also a big part of my life. I love riding my bike to the park or going for a run to refresh my mind. Being outside helps me feel grounded and happy.
I’m also passionate about healthy living — I love vegetables and enjoy cooking simple, nutritious meals. Music plays a big role in my life too — I play piano, guitar, saxophone, drums, and ukulele.
I grew up in a big family with five siblings, so I’m very used to being around lots of people and I enjoy sharing space, stories, and laughs.
I’m respectful, easygoing, and always open to learning something new from the people I meet. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling not just to see places, but to really experience them through local people, food, and everyday life.
That’s why I was drawn to Couchsurfing — staying with locals gives me a deeper connection to a country’s culture, something I could never get from a hotel.
I believe that the most memorable moments in travel often come from unexpected conversations, shared meals, and simple everyday experiences.
I’m not just looking for a place to sleep — I’m here to connect, learn, and grow through meeting people with different backgrounds and stories.
Couchsurfing feels like a beautiful way to build bridges between cultures, one conversation at a time!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I’ve done is travel to Kenya, where I had the chance to meet Maasai people and experience a safari.
Being surrounded by such powerful, free animals in their natural habitat — while also learning about the Maasai culture — gave me a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world.
It reminded me how small I am compared to nature, and how important it is to protect and respect different ways of life.
