About Me

Hi, I’m Yurii 👋
Ukrainian by roots, shaped by a few years in China, now living near the water in Nacka, Stockholm. I’m a calm, curious person who walks a lot and fast, practices yoga/meditation, and hums little piano melodies when I think. I’m tidy in a very normal way (I’m the “wipe the sink after brushing my teeth” type), easygoing, and I try to leave every place—and conversation—a bit better than I found it. I like making complicated things simple, whether that’s tech or travel plans. I love animals and see them as our equals.

Now I always travel with my partner Pavlo, with whom I have been together for eight years. We have traveled a lot through Europe, Asia, and North America. We lived together in China, Germany, Ukraine, and Sweden. All these experiences shaped us in a unique way, and made us very open-minded, accepting, and respectful of whatever and whoever you are. You can check out my partner's profile through this link so you can get to know each of us better individually:

I want to make a potential host feel as comfortable as it is possible prior to arrival through sharing social media, video calling and connecting to get to know each other better than make the stay a smooth ride for everyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was active on couchsurfing some years ago and then took a big break to sort out my life and now I'm back on the platform to be back with a community and connect with people.

I’m here for the kind of travel you can’t book: a kitchen chat, a bus tip only locals know, a slow walk through a neighborhood at sunset. I like the small exchanges—washing up after dinner, sharing tea, trading stories. I’ve moved countries a few times, and kind people made those transitions softer. Couchsurfing feels like a way to pass that forward.

I know that my lifestyle is not for everyone, and there is a certain kind of people I know I can make a meaningful connection with. I am very respectful of others' personal and private space and admire people who can find the right balance between connecting and rest, and yet parting with something invaluable afterwards.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical and pop music, science fiction books, detectives, thrillers and documentary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I completed an intensive silent meditation program—no phone, no talking, just practice and presence. It reset my pace for life. On a more everyday level, I coordinated volunteers for a yoga programs in Stockholm; creating a calm, welcoming space for strangers that felt… quietly amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
    •    A 5-minute breathing/meditation routine you can actually keep up with
    •    Simple productivity systems (notes that stay tidy, calendars that you’ll use, tiny automations)
    •    Light tech help: decluttering your phone/laptop, intro to AI tools for everyday tasks
    •    Piano basics for total beginners—how to improvise a calm loop
Learn
    •    A local recipe or your go-to comfort dish
    •    Words/phrases people really use in your language
    •    Your hidden places: quiet parks, sunset walks, small museums
    •    Any small skill you love—coffee ritual, board game, climbing knots…I’m curious 😊
Share
    •    A warm vegan meal
    •    A slow walk or museum day, noticing the details most people skip
    •    Scenic public-transport routes and free/low-cost things to do
    •    Respectful company: tidy, low-key, and easy to be around

What I Can Share with Hosts

    •    Share a warm vegan meal and a meaningful exchange of minds and experiences
    •    A 5-minute breathing routine to unwind after a long day
    •    Local help: scenic public-transport routes, free/low-cost things to do in Stockholm
    •    Light tech help: organizing your phone/computer, simple automations, tidy notes
    •    Good company that respects space: I’m easygoing, tidy, and I match your house rules
