Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. After debating whether to study Engineering or Literature for a couple of years, I ultimately decided to stick with Engineering and graduated in 2010. Literature never really left me though, and it monopolizes most of my free time (or the parts I remember).
I spent one year in France as an exchange student in 2008 - and two and a half years in Germany a while after. My time in Germany was quite fantastic, but I found a job in Brussels eventually and came to live here. I've come to like it very much as well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'd like to try out travel by couch-surfing and get a chance to meet people from the places I visit. I've never done it. I think it would make the experience more personal and I've only heard good things about it. I look forward both to travel and to host travelers here.
Interests
I like the humanities in general - and literature in particular. If there's a fictional character divide I take sides with the Buendías of this world - not the Litumas. Most of what I read is poetry though, but my tastes there are sparsely informed and widely inconsistent.
As a Venezuelan abroad I've become more interested in the history of the place, how its experience as a nation (d)evolved into its current state. It's often edifying to discuss it with other people that relate to it in some way; but mostly to discuss other places (theirs) and other experiences.
Another perk of being Venezuelan and hopelessly nostalgic is that I have two cuatros (the famous Venezuelan four-string guitar) and a limited - but fiercely emotional - repertoire of songs I can play.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'd say "Poemas" by Ida Gramcko and "A Large Number" by Wisława Szymborska, but these preferences change all the time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was a goal keeper for over three years during High School, but missed the thrill of the goal too much not to try to become a striker as well. I failed.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A Venezuelan accent and lengthy conversations about my experience in Latin America. Also, some tips about Brussels and its surroundings, a bunch of poetry and some music.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Belgium, France, Germany, Venezuela
