Über mich

Hey there! I have an indomitable spirit of wanderlust and adventure and am always seeking fun and new experiences in life, whether it be exploring a new recipe or a new country. I am always looking for the road less traveled and sharing that experience with others. I love meeting fellow travelers and kindred spirits because it's those people that inspire me to continue exploring.. without that inspiration the naysayers that say travel is dangerous and not worth the time would chip away at me.

Life is funny, beautiful, confusing, scary, wonderful, surprising, and most of all fun. There's a big wide beautiful world out there, and for those who want it, it's out there!

PHILOSOPHY

Everything happens for a reason, and in the end, IT'LL ALL BE OKAY.. and remember to laugh at yourself and floss daily.

After a bad car accident in 2009, I realized just how accurate all those "Carpe Diem" cliches are and how you really NEVER KNOW what's going to happen in life. I realized how much time, stress, and energy we as humans tend to devote to minimal things that in the grand scheme of things really don't matter at all. Not getting that TPS report in on time? No one is going to die. Oh, I also learned that SUV's actually do have a high rollover rate.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Cos meeting new people from around the world is awesome.

Interessen

One of the best experiences of traveling, I've found, is meeting new people and creating a network of friendships and connections all around the world. One of my strongest qualities is that I truly value my friendships and connections, and am very good about keeping in touch with friends. I believe in hand written letters and postcards, actual face-to-face communication vice texting, and inspiring all those around you to be happy and fulfilled with their lives. One of the best lessons I've learned from traveling is that we don't need to be so afraid of each other all the time, and that there is so much love out there in the world.
Aside from others making my life engaging,I engage myself by doing any activity outdoors-- I'm a huge water person and love anything on the water. I hold my 100-ton Captain's license and a few years ago moved to the British Virgin Islands, where I completed my Divemaster certification and got a job working on a charter yacht as a Mate/Divemaster. It was a fun job, but I felt the altruistic part of me pulling me away from the yachting industry. Hence, I've decided to go out, travel, explore, and meet as many new people as I can.
Hiking, rock climbing, cycling, triathlons, kayaking, SUP-ing, surfing, diving, etc. etc. etc. are all favorite past times. There are way too many expensive hobbies out there to keep my attention fully engaged, though. :T Why are outdoor hobbies so freaking expensive?! Oh, because they're usually worth it.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Driving a 213-foot long ship through Alaska's Inside passage and the Bering Sea. Exploring Attu Island, the last island on the Aleutian Island chain.
Taking a boat ride through Milford Sound, New Zealand-- one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life. After, my friends and I were able to score a deal and take a small plane over Fiordland National Park back to Queenstown. Anytime I am in or over mountains I am reminded just how tiny we really are on this Earth.
Diving in the Blue Hole in Belize... diving down past sharks and to 130', and swimming through huge overhanging stalactites underwater... completely surreal and amazing. I heart Jacques Cousteau.
