I am currently fulfilling my dreams - I decided one year ago that it was now or never to pack up and go travelling, which I have wanted to do for the last 15 years. as of mid January 2015, I am 6 months into my 1.5 - 2 year trip. I have heard great things about couch surfing and thought I would give it a go, not only for the obvious reason of finding somewhere to stay but also the potential opportunities to meet a wide variety of people, especially as I am travelling on my own. I hope that when I complete my travels, I can also offer to host people travelling, wherever I end up.

Travelling has to be number one. Whilst this is my first long extended trip, I have been travelling to all sorts of places for 3-4 weeks at a time over the years, on holiday from work.

I also love to cook and eat good food, whether that is in friend's houses, restaurants or street food.

At the moment, reading is a big hobby which fills my time travelling from one place to the next. I also love going to the cinema (before travelling I would have went at least once per week) but I also love watching films at home and also box sets - I have got through so many of the popular box sets I sometimes wonder how I have also managed to have quite a busy social life as well!

On my travels my interests have varied depending on where I am in the world - I started off learning thai boxing for 6 days a week for 7 weeks in Thailand; then I tried to learn to dive unsuccessfully in Indonesia; I then did a 19 day trek to Everest Base Camp and the surrounding areas; and finished off the year learning to ski in Colorado. I'm currently in Buenos Aires (Jan15) learning Spanish and tango. I had a few salsa lessons in Cuba earlier in the year and picked it up relatively quickly but I feel tango will be much more difficult!

I am also a bit of a social butterfly so love getting out and about and meeting people, socialising over a good glass of wine and getting to dance the night away in a disco from time to time (but this happens a lot less often these days)...

Movies... Where do I start... In no particular order: Usual Suspects, Elf, 12 Monkeys, The Departed, Donnie Darko, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Little Women, Drive, Saving Mr Banks, Toy Story (all of them), various foreign films (i.e non english speaking films which I can't name off the top of my head at the moment), etc. The list goes on and on.

TV Boxsets... The West Wing, Sons of Anarchy, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Office US, The Wire, The Shield, VEEP, 24, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, The Good Wife, Homeland, Downton Abbey, Black Mirror, Broadchurch, Mad Men, True Detective, etc.

Books... Anything by Marian Keyes or Michael Connolly. Then usually one off recommendations from friends or something related to something I am doing or somewhere I am going/ have been, e.g. The Accent of Rum Doodle. Generally something funny or gripping. I would like to read more travel literature.

Music... I like most music, which sounds like a cop out but it is true. I can be very indecisive when I listen to music so I tend to press shuffle on a random playlist and see what comes on - it can be anything from pop, to 1980's/90's, to oldies like Frank Sinatra, to RnB and so on.
