About Me
ABOUT ZAC
I'm Australian and lived there until early 2015 when I moved to Ukraine. Why would I do that? The main reason was that I met a Ukrainian girl on a free walking tour in Berlin, and wanted to give our relationship a chance. I'm happy to say we're now married and still living together in Ukraine :) It worked out well since I wanted to live in Europe to make it easier to travel around the continent.
My wife and I travel a lot and are doing well with our [potentially unrealistic] goal of seeing every country. While travelling, I love hearing new languages and being surrounded by different cultures. At home, I'm trying to learn Russian but finding that speaking another language is a lot harder than I expected, especially when I can get by speaking English. My favourite trips have been the ones where we've rented a car and really explored a country.
As I usually travel with my wife, you should know that we're both very polite and friendly and don't drink much (just the occasional cider). We're looking for new, interesting experiences, rather than a new place to party. Please don't be scared off by the fact that we're new to Couchsurfing as we'd love to meet you! :D
ABOUT ANNA
Travelling is my great passion and a way of life) I can't imagine myself without reading, creating, exploring and meeting new people.
I like spring, flowers, dreaming, walking barefoot, painting, photographing, swimming, doing capoeira, biking and hiking, to be excited, smiling to strangers, hugs, Harry Potter, chocolate, smell after the rain, surprise and get surprised, sunrises and sunsets, stars and northern lights, ice-cream, wondering, writing letters, sending postcards, having fun with friends and dancing in the rain)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When my wife and I travel, we usually stay in a hotel or B&B, which means we don't really get to meet any locals. A lot can be gained by getting to know someone from a different country.
Anna: I love to travel and meet new people. I think that visiting some place is much better if you can stay with someone local. Only then you can get the real feel of a city. It gives so much more experience than jus staying in a hotel!
I'm opened to show Kyiv and share all the information about my country! =) Come to Ukraine - it's really amazing!
Interests
Zac: I'm a software developer, so I naturally love technology. I also really enjoy watching movies and TV series and am happy to watch a whole season in a row. I don't mind driving long distances and want to do more road trips. When I have time, I like cooking; there's something about following a recipe to create food that appeals to me. I wouldn't say I'm a master chef, though! Walking around a new city is a great, relaxing way to see it. Between all that, I'll happily go to sleep :)
Anna: My main hobby is travelling. I also enjoy writing that's why I always carry a notebook and a pen. I love reading, photography, hiking and riding my yellow bike :) I work in charity because doing good things and making people happy is important to me. I like to think of myself as a creative person, I have the talent to notice the beauty around me, and I believe that magic happens to those who believe in it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Zac: It's very hard to pick a favourite for any of these things. I like all kinds of music, often just a few songs from each album and not the whole thing. I guess I could say Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed since I like most of their songs. Movies are even more difficult, but the main thing I've learned is that just because it's not highly rated on IMDB doesn't mean it's bad. Books, well, I don't them much, you'd have to ask my wife!
Anna: I love books of Lucy Maud Montgomery, Ernest Hemingway, Erich Maria Remarque, Gabriel García Márquez, Harper Lee - To Kill a Mockingbird, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, lots of Ukrainian authors.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Zac: Driving on the Great Ocean Road in Australia has been one of the most scenic and entertaining things I've done so far.
Anna: Visiting Rio!
Great Barrier Reef, hugging a kangaroo and an emu
Flying on hot air balloon! =)
Teach, Learn, Share
Zac: I can share my experiences of visiting other countries and give some recommendations.
Anna: I can teach Russian or Ukrainian, and share recipes of traditional Ukrainian dishes =) I can show you the city (Kyiv) and share lots of stories about it. I can recommend places to visit in Ukraine (touristy and not).
I'd be very happy to have a drawing or photography workshop)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Zac: I can tell you what Australia and Ukraine are really like, as opposed to the stereotypes and rumours :)
Anna: I'm in love with Kyiv and I want to share this love with everyone! Kyiv is worth visiting, it's always beautiful. Whenever you come here, whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter, you'll be impressed and charmed by it. I can write about my favourite city for ages, but it's better to see, feel and experience it by yourself. I can show you all must see places and hidden gems. Welcome to Kyiv!
