About Me
Hey, I'm Zach, I am a veteran who just graduated college a few weeks ago and am looking to backpack around Europe with my girlfriend, Liz, for a month or two before finding a job and facing what people call "real life." We will be starting our trip in Dublin, Ireland on May 31st and are hoping to go where the wind takes us from there! I have briefly traveled in Europe before and used Airbnb to find lodging and I really enjoy meeting the people I've stayed with and getting to know them. Though I studied molecular genetics in college I am also passionate about physical fitness and greatly enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and playing rugby.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This service has been recommended to me by many people as one of the best ways to experience different cultures and lifestyles. I have friends in many countries but I also enjoy meeting new people and learning from them. I hope to better the lives of the people I meet in any small way that I can, even if that just entails a pleasant interaction.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am very open in my music tastes, and I often let others choose the music because I enjoy such a variety. I look for signs of true artistry in the music I prefer, but everyone enjoys a good simple melody with easy to sing lyrics once in awhile. I prefer live music and generally gravitate towards heavy metal or EDM shows, as they have atmospheres with a lot of energy and movement.
I am a die hard Witcher fan. The Witcher is a series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, which has more recently been converted to English. I can rave for a long time about the complex plot lines and the fantastic use of political atmospheres and all the components that make these books amazing. As well as the fact that there is also a video game series associated with the franchise that I have spent too much time playing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've visited all 50 states in the United States. I used to travel in an RV around the US during my summer breaks from school and I made it to all 48 continental states. While I was in the military I went to Alaska for two weeks for work.. And while in college Liz helped me reach my last state, Hawaii, with some expert travel planning and some of her travel miles.
Teach, Learn, Share
I genuinely enjoy learning how people see the world around them and exposing myself to new lines of thought, and to hopefully inspire questions about those views and thought processes in all parties involved. On a lighter note I love food and I can't stop talking about it if I've had something good to eat.
What I Can Share with Hosts
So far I've accumulated an odd combination of life events that have helped me realize that one of my true passions is learning. I believe that gathering and sharing knowledge is one of the greatest things people can do, and so I hope to teach, as well as be taught in any ways possible.
