About Me

I spent the first eighteen years of my life in a small town between Milwaukee and Chicago. In fall of 2012, knowing it was about that time to get out of the Midwest, I flew across the country and enrolled at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During my freshman year in college, I (1) wrote and published my first novel and (2) launched an online campaign to fund an idea I had for a book/documentary in which I would travel to all parts of the country to speak with America's youth about the future we share. The fundraising campaign was more successful than I could have hoped, and I was able to take two lifelong friends on an eight-month, forty-nine-state journey and turn my idea into a reality (the book will be published early next year).

Returning from the trip, I was supposed to head back to college to resume undergraduate studies, but with some funds still left over--well, now I'm here. My eventual return to USC at this point looks dubious, as I have many plans for projects in the short and long term that I have every intention of seeing through.

Looking forward to meeting you and telling you more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The book I eventually intend to write about my travels in Peru will be divided into three parts: (1) my time in the jungle, (2) my time in Lima, and (3) my travels through the south of Peru, ultimately culminating in the mountains surrounding Cusco.

I have already finished parts one and two. Thus, I will soon be looking to stay at certain cities throughout the south of Peru while I'm en route to Cusco. These cities include Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa, and Puno (and perhaps also a stop in La Paz, Bolivia). I'm looking to experience each of these cities in short periods of time (1-3 nights), and thus I will need the aid of people who know these cities well and can guide me to where I should be spending what little time I have.

I apologize in advance for my lack of references--this is my first time using Couchsurfing :/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From September 2013 through May 2014, I took two friends on a road trip through forty-nine U.S. states on a quest to discover the future. Along the way, we stopped at hundreds of universities, companies, and start-ups and spoke with America's youth about the topics that seem to have the most potential to impact the future of Western civilization. Such topics included 3D printing, virtual reality, self-driving cars, the rise of Transcendental Meditation, the Internet of Everything, neuroplasticity, and much, much more.

I wrote a book about the trip, entitled The Path of Imagination, which will be published through Amazon early next year.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Cambodia, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Liberia, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand
