I love nature, wildlife, ecology, and music.

I like to spend my time hiking, making music, writing, woodworking, and gardening.

PHILOSOPHY

I see things holistically and dislike seeing the human being and the human experience divided up into separate elements. I dislike rigidity and specialization, and love spontaneity, but I also recognize the need at times for focusing all of one's energy on some singular thing or dedication to work. The truth is in the middle, as well as in the extremes, so all things must be examined, accepted, and questioned. Life is meant to be lived passionately.

Music: lots of blues, folk, jazz, funk, and psychedelic stuff. Books: I love Dostoevsky, and other Russian lit; I like short stories, philosophical essays, poetry, and nature writing. Recently I've found a lot of inspiration in the essays of Wendell Berry.

Movies: Pretty big on Tarkovsky, Kurosawa. I like Being There, Days of Heaven, Leon, The Graduate, Soy Cuba, Harold & Maude, Cool Hand Luke, Network, and Encounters at the End of the World, among others.
