About Me

I'm a liver and lover of life. Watch a lot of TedX talks. I'm interested in helping others live happier lives and enjoy talking about all areas of life, with all kinds of people. Go-lucky, open minded, laid back, and adventurous. I'm always trying to be courteous and respectful. I enjoy camping, making and listening to music (I beatbox a lot and play a little guitar), writing, dancing, and too many other things to list! I'm a night owl and love late night conversations about life.

At the moment, I'm planning a hitch hiking trip from my hometown, Albany New York (3 hours north of NYC), to California. Here's a link to the facebook page I made for my trip - https://www.facebook.com/zacknytoca . I'll be leaving in mid June and have no deadline. I crave adventure and can't wait to get out there. I decided I haven't been able to figure out my lifes passion by theorizing, so I gotta get myself out there, take that step into the unknown, and just DO IT.
I'll be video interviewing people through the whole trip, asking what they're passionate about, what makes them feel alive and excited for life. Then make a video with all my favorite clips from conversations about life and passion, and throw it on YouTube. I'll be volunteering in homeless shelters, medical clinics, alternative education schools, and environmental conservancies all along the way. I also have an interest in stuttering, am a person who stutters, and will keep my eyes open for any speech groups (such as NSA) along the way. Looking to meet a lot of people!
Most of all I'll need a place to stay! I'll have some camping supplies with me, but would much prefer a floor, couch, or bed. So please let me know!

Some of my past travels:
I've back packed for 2 weeks with a group of 12 through the Colorado Rocky Mountains through the orginaization Outward Bound. I spent 3 days alone on the Appalachian Trail a couple years ago. I spent 4 days traveling solo, walking the whole time, about 50 miles north of where I live, sleeping in fields or behind buildings, wherever I could find.

Ask questions. Carpe Diem. Peace and Love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I put everything in the "About Me" section, oh no! haha.
On here to meet cool people and find couches to sleep on! Traveling from New York to California, hitch hiking. Trip will be from June 2015 - whenever I finish.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music! Yes! Ok... I enjoy a pretty wide variety, but I seek out hip hop, metal, and all types of edm. To name a few artists, I'll say Apollo Brown (hip hop), Clams Casino (hip hop), Amon Amarth (metal), Distrubed (metal). My interest in edm is a lot wider, and I don't really have many top favorites here. Burial is an abstract/atmospheric edm producer I enjoy. Muramasa and Hucci are trap producers I like a lot. I've been listening to Pendulum for drum and bass. Hardstyle is a ton of fun to dance to. Trance. House is cool too, but I hear a lot of it so it's sometimes hard to find the unique artists. Industrial. When it comes to edm, you name it and I'll listen, haha.

Movies: Into the Wild, Seven Pounds, Pursuit of Happiness. Eraserhead was the weirdest movie I've ever seen and possibly ever will see. But I liked it. . .. I think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is one thing, but it's a constant. I try to embody love every day of my life, through patience, open mindedness, understanding, acceptance, empathy, honesty, and thoughtfulness. A couple of things I live my life by: To each their own, and the golden rule.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know about happiness! Or that's what I'm learning and studying everyday. I do a lot of self reflection to learn how I tick and what makes me happy and would love the chance to help others live happier lives.
One of the most important thins I can say on this topic - I don't teach my ways of happiness, I help others find their ways.

I also know how to change oil, rotate tires, and replace air filters on cars. I'm good with math too, so if you'd like help budgeting or anything like that, let me know and I can at least give it a shot.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can be quiet and out of the way, or interactive and fun :) I'm very mold-able and easy to work with (I like to think). Not afraid of washing dishes, taking out the trash, painting living rooms, etc. I think I would prefer to just share my life experiences with you, and to hear your life experiences if you'd like to share. That's definitely what I'm most interested in. But if you need help around the house in return for me staying there, or help cleaning up after dinner, or anything like that! - I will be right there offering whatever help I can.
