Hello!! Bem-vindo!

My name is Matheus Bender, I am from Brazil, and I’ve been living abroad for the last five years. I studied sociology at Berea College in the USA, and I am deeply fascinated by humanity in its full complexity. In 2024, I was awarded the Taylor Fellowship, which paid for me to visit different countries to study the concept of “generosity”. In September, I will move to China to start my Master’s at Peking University, and who knows next? 😹

Life is great everywhere, and I love learning about new people! I enjoy corner food at sketchy kitchens (especially when they are really cheap). I love walking around, and talking about everything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born and raised in Brazil and went to study in the USA when I was 20 years old. I had a previous experience working in a hostel in Mexico as a bartender!

Sociology major, who loves humanity and its diversity. I love seeing how people think over complex abstract topics. Though I love sharing and learning about life experiences and crazy stories people have!!I have no fears of what topics to cover and will discuss with anyone if they’re willing hahaha!

I am also a reserve infantry officer in the Brazilian army, which will enable some good-funny stories of my time serving. I am fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, English, and gestures, facial expressions and enthusiasm (if not able to speak the language).
