About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To unravel the mystery of History

ABOUT ME

I am but a humble Californian travelling this wide and wild world seeking a better understanding of life on Earth. Most of my time up until writing this has been occupied by reading, thinking and talking. Now it seems appropriate to become a citizen of the world and see what comes of it.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that human history is just the beginning of the beginning. We have yet to even scratch the surface of human potential, and my goal is to do everything I can to help us explore the limitless potential.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of right now I'm trying to be the best possible guest. This includes doing what I can to leave the place cleaner than I found it and the person happier than they were the day before I arrived in their life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived with a group of dedicated kayakers in California for a while and we hosted a never ending stream of kayakers from all over the world. The experience was always a positive one and made me realize how much good can be done by just opening up your house.

Interests

I love reading and writing a great deal. Having grown up in nature, I'm also rather found of those wonderful parts of the world not covered with pavement. Other than these things I like a good glass of wine, tasty food and intelligent people.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is really hard not to go into great detail... I am going to stick to genres just so I don't feel guilty about leaving people out. I really like existentialist authors of all nationalities. I've read a great number of historical works, both ancient and modern. Also an amateur but sincere fan of poetry.
As for music, perhaps even more difficult. Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Woody Guthrie, Wu-Tang, Beethoven, Pearl Jam, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Edith Piaf, Ella Fitzgerald, Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash, and soooooo many more

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was lucky enough to go to a Native American (Pomo to be specific) religious ceremony and experience a religion far different from anything organized around clergy or based on writing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an official Historian, so get me talking about the past and I will weave a web. I also know a fair amount about Geography and Literature.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Montenegro, Nepal, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan
