About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visit every country around the world whilst filming, writing and taking photos along the journey.

ABOUT ME

My name is Dave and I'm from East London, I'm 29 years old and I've enjoyed solo travel since the young age of 15, I haven't stopped since!

It's fun jumping on a random flight to the middle of know where, going with the flow and seeing where you end up.

Locals are the best way to directly engage with an awesome unique culture. I enjoy discovering new ways of looking at the world and I feel the more people you cross paths with on your travels, the more your horizon expands. I love the outdoors, trying new foods and discovering new crazy ways of living.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life, be happy, explore and discover, what do you have to lose?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Fun Fact: I met my fiancé through Couchsurfing.

Learning about other cultures has been just the best, this site is definitely a great way of doing so. I stumbled across Couchsurfing back in 2006 on my first backpacking adventure around Norway, It was a special moment for me and opened up this amazing community of Coucsurfing.

I love to show new people around the cities That I call temporary homes (I move all the time to new places through my location independent lifestyle) as I also have a great experience from it and also learn many new things I wasn't aware of as its a different way of seeing where you live through someone else eyes. Makes you appreciate more where you live and adds a fresh perspective. It's great fun to host and meet new people around the world.

It's great to give back to other travellers on the road too when I can. I use it myself frequent to explore the world and feel hosting is important to support the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love staying with people when I’m travelling. You understand so much more about the culture and ways of living in the country you're staying.

I've hosted many wonderful people and surfed with incredibly awesome like minded individuals It's hard to pinpoint the best experience they have all been memorable in their own unique ways and that's why Couchsurfing is such a great project.

If I have to say one best experience it has to be surfing around Finland. Did a lot of crazy things and stayed with lovely hospitable families. I found all Finnish people from the start to be very quiet and shy, but after many long chats over coffee and sharing travel stories we seem to mutually open up and get along, I have many Finnish friends through Couchsurfing and what otherwise would have been hard to achieve, it's great! Singing Karaoke, going to the sauna and enjoying a few beers, Finland and its people are awesome!

Interests

I'm into travel like most people on couchsurfing, after almost 10 years on the road, It's become my lifestyle and I'm extremely happy about that. Nothing like backpacking around a country you never heard of and drinking with the locals and not understanding a word they're saying :P. I like a lot of outdoor stuff like camping, climbing, hiking, skiing and going on adventures. I'm into all types of music, anything with a beat is great! Drum and bass, Dance, 80's, indie! Everything!! Even swiss yodel when I'm in the mood :D.

Ten things about me:
1) I'm obsessed with IKEA, if your place has Ikea I like it already :). But anything Nordic, I like Swedish design, Icelantic humour, Finnish party, Danish food and Norweigan tales
2) I'm an Apple geek
3) Coffee is my joy in life, it's awesome
4) Been travelling since I was 15 solos, yes! That's a story
5) I once went around the world with a film crew for a year
6) I'm trying to run my life by writing a blog even though I can't spell
7) I enjoy cooking, it's my meditation like Gandhi and sewing
8) I love the Japanese obsession with the organisation, I travel with only hand luggage (everything I own fits into my bag)
9) I like to take photos for fun and share the world with people
10) I can't drive
11) I'm left handed

There you go : )

Music, Movies, and Books

Like to read a lot of books about the countries I'm visiting and boring business books.

I love watching movies or TV series, they're awesome and go well with Pizza :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing things I have done in my life is just all the travelling and all the amazing people I've been lucky to meet on my journey. That's why I still travel and can't see myself stopping any time soon as i have so much fun doing it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach English in South Korea one day one of my ambitions.
