I'm taking a year off to see the world after 7 years running a performance company Australia.

ABOUT ME

I love good food, meeting new people, being active, music and i love the fact that I've just set off on a 12 month world adventure!

For the past 7 years i have been managing and directing my musical theatre company, mostly kids shows. We've toured extensively in Australia and it's now time for me to treat myself to a little holiday adventure.

I enjoy a good chat about world affairs, travel, music and food.

I'm a folk musician as well and enjoy creating with others and checking out new places to find new music. You can hear some of my tunes at www.myspace.com/zanebeck

On this trip i'll be doing what i never thought i'd be doing... traveling Mexico and South America by motorcycle.

After 7 months in South America i'll head to Eastern Europe for 2 months and then South East Asia for 2.5 months.

I'm 39 and have decided this is THE year to do it! :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always had an open house in Melbourne, Australia, for other travelers and keep spare mattresses for the purpose.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing and i'm looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds... It's such a fantastic idea and a great way to meet new people and enjoy the rich exchange that it offers both hosts and guests.

I've couch surfed with a guy in Denver Colorado and currently I'm couch surfing for a week with a (non member) doctor and his family in Breckenridge Colorado. He has the same motorcycle as me and came up over for a chat in a carpark and invited me to stay at his house. A lot warmer than the tent I was about to pitch by the lake.

As a guest, or host, I'm respectful, considerate and tidy and mindful of others people's space and need for time out.

兴趣

Interests?... Well music is a big one. I'm a musician, but it's something that's more of a diary thing than a performer one. I like the more chilled folky stuff but appreciate most styles.

I haven't been overseas for 11 years so travel is high on the list right now. !

I'm a little bit of an enviromentalist... quite passionate on this front and always interested in the ways we as humans are looking at solving some of our most pressing issues.

I love food and I love to cook.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Seen:
The first one that comes to mind is the time i was playing an indian sitar on a wooden raft on a beautiful creek with a friend who was playing guitar... Our eyes were shut and we were lost in the music when we heard a gentle splash nearby... Still playing, we opened our eyes to see a baby platypus slowly swimming (and occasionally submerging) in a perfect circle all the way around us... Then it disappeared and we just stared at each other, speechless... I'll never forget it.

Done:
The performance group i manage and perform in sold out 6 shows at the Sydney Opera House in 2008.

I'm always up for learning about other people's views on the world. And I love to try things i haven't before. I'm particularly interested right now in learning about organic farming, home vegie gardens, alternative building, maybe even the art of motorcycle maintenance!

I'd also love to learn more about the guitar and different styles of playing and songwriting.

As a musician and performer i am always happy to share my knowledge and teach guitar to those eager to learn.

I also have a background in graphic design and have managed and marketed a theatre company for the past 7 years. So at 39 i feel i have a lot to offer in terms of advice or design or concept for other projects.

I love hearing about other people's ideas or projects and giving honest advice and direction to help make their dreams a reality. I think i'm good for inspiration :)
