ABOUT ME

Let's see, I'm a student at the University of Puget Sound, in Washington (state), and a native of the Chicago area. I have a lot of different interests and make a point of learning as much as I can about as much as I can. I'm prone to enthusiastically adopting new projects and then abandoning them in various stages of completion. I'm pretty easygoing and non-judgmental, and just because I have strong opinions doesn't mean that I think yours aren't valid. I think it's silly to use 'party' as a verb but I like to party.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to figure out the difference between truth and preconception, distortion, and illusion. I think people whose fundamental goal is to make their own personal selves happy will unfailingly thwart their own mission. I try to live and let live, and distinguish what I should try to change from what I should learn to accept.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to the community, but I'd like to get involved by meeting some ambassadors in London and maybe even surfing for a night or two as I travel continental Europe.

Interests

I like to bike long distances, hike in the woods, cook things I haven't tried before, play basketball, brew beer, experiment with facial hair, read, write, play guitar, and of course travel. I'm fascinated by rhetoric, urban planning, game theory, culture jamming, environmental economics, and other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - changes so frequently that I won't even bother listing anything specific. If it's catchy and it's original and it's got some depth, chances are I will like it.
Movies - The Big Lebowski is the only film I've seen that continues to get better each time I see it.
Books - Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, just to name a few.
