About Me

There's a lot of great stuff to see in the world and I want to see it.

Back in the 1990s, there was this show on TV called "The Pretender." Okay, I never actually watched it, but from what I gathered, the idea was that there was this guy who was really smart and so he would just travel from place to place working as a doctor or an engineer or whatever. That's kind of how I imagine my ideal life, going from one thing to another and really getting an idea of how other people live and what they do all day.

I am from the USA but currently spending a lot of time in Spain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't get a chance to host too much since I'm usually moving around from one place to another, but the surfers I have hosted back in Virginia have been great.

Travelling as a couchsurfer has also been great, and made my experience travelling about 100x better than it would otherwise have been. I'm not all that excited about museums and monuments, so pretty much the reason I travel is to spend time with locals.

Interests

economics, movies, history, philosophy, books, that kinda stuff.

I'm no expert in movies but you don't have to be one to write a blog about movies. So I have this blog with some friends from high school:

Music, Movies, and Books

Remains of the Day is a fantastic book about deciding who you are and dealing with the consequences of that decision.

I listen to so many podcasts now that I forget to leave space for music, but I do still love Third Eye Blind. I also love the musical Rent, and some other musicals.

I like movies, too. The ones I watch a lot are Groundhog Day, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Punch-Drunk Love, and 500 Days of Summer. Is there a common theme? You be the judge!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked 800 km on the Camino de Santiago. That was pretty amazing. It's definitely worth a month out of your life, if you have nothing in particular going on.

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach? Maybe English?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will share my thoughts on "what it all means" after we've gotten the basic chit-chat out of the way.
