We live in St Cergue a small mountain (1.100m) resort 20 min away from Geneva by car (50 by train) that has lots of wonderful outdoor activities. I a calm welcoming person who enjoys hiking, nature, enjoying the quieter things of the outside life. I love cooking, art, music, meeting new people and traveling. I live with my life partner, Pierre, who is home more often than me and loves our 2 cats.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It’s a wonderful way to allow more people to travel without the terrible costs of hotels and you get to meet the locals, understand their life for a few days. I enjoy making travellers feel welcome and showing them around our beautiful nature that is all around us here.

Interests

We are mostly flexitarians (fish no meat) but are happy to have meat eaters stay with us as we believe everyone should choose their own path. We are non smokers and would prefer guests who do not smoke at all but people can smoke outside if they pick up their cigarette butts. We enjoy meeting very different people and are happy to help them when we can. I enjoy sharing my knowledge on our local great outdoors and any books. I also like paying forward as I have received so much when I was in need, I hope I can do my own bit now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving in the Red Sea a pod of dolphins stopped to play around our boat as we were getting ready for the evening meal. As they were lingering we all decided to get in the water with snorkel but no time for swim suits, so as we were we went in and swam in the open ocean around the boat. The were very playful, would zoom up to us and turn a few centimeters before touching us, we were always a finger away from them but there speed and agility was breathtaking. We stayed in the water for 20 min when they finally started to swim away. That was truly an amazing thing to experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A real bed in a room which is public but not often used during the day, it has a TV and heating, the shared bathroom is next to it. We live in St Cergue which is a small village in a mountain resort but 30-20 min away from Geneva by car and 50 min by train. Here you will find winter or summer activities for the outdoor person: hiking trails, snow shoeing, ski, sledge slopes, peaceful walks in the pine forests, mountain lake swimming, rock climbing, mountain bike, local food etc. I can show you where to get the best view point on the Alpes, the stupendous Mt Blanc, and where to see wild deer, chamoix etc in their natural habitat without disturbing them.
