About Me

Geek. Artist. Feminist. Skeptic. Vegan. Cyclist. Atheist. Gamer. Barista. Baker. ASMRer.

I love to laugh, and have a very varied sense of humor - everything from the dark and witty to the juvenile.

Myers-Briggs Type: INTJ (former ISFP)

I read a lot, and recently I've starting writing in my free time. I also draw occasionally. My dream is to one day become the next Neil Gaiman (I've got a long way to go).

I ride my bike almost everywhere I go, and I've got a few years experience working as a bicycle mechanic.

I'm vegan and an atheist (but don't worry, I'm not preachy or annoying about either one) -- and, for what it's worth, I'm pretty damn good vegan cook & baker.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't travel very often, but when I do I definitely keep couch surfing in mind. I'm currently seeing if my roommate is amenable to us being hosts at our apartment, but if she isn't then I definitely plan to start hosting once I get my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still fairly new to couch surfing; I've only surfed once before, and that was about 4 years ago. But it was a great experience, and I look forward to trying it again!

Interests

I am into bicycling, hiking, climbing trees, comic books, non-comic books, cooking, eating, and I savor good conversation the way some people savor a fine wine or a smelly cheese.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple years back I spent a summer at a Zen monastery in Southwest California - it was an incredible and "enlightening" experience. Ask me about it sometime, I've got lots of good stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to work as a bicycle mechanic - mostly self-taught - and so I know quite a bit about bikes and cycling, but am always eager to learn more.

Believe it or not, a few years ago I had all but made up my mind to become a Buddhist monk - and along the way, I learned a lot about meditation, mindfulness, religion, and philosophy. Aside from this, I also know a fair bit about religion generally, as well as atheism and skepticism.

As a vegan, I sort of fell into an interest in nutrition and cooking, and have a fair amount that I could teach, as well as a fair amount I could learn.

As an ASMR sensitive person, I'm fascinated with ASMR and love to share it with others - especially those who also experience it.

There's a couple things that I'm new to, that I would definitely like to learn more about: parkour/free-running, martial arts, gardening/permaculture, German speaking & writing,
