About Me

I promise to write something here when I stop being a lazy koala. :c -chews on eucalyptus-

Edit: So, I am Sara. I was born and raised in Slovenia, but lately I spend less and less time here because the world calls to me.

When greeted with strangers I sometimes have a lack of confidence in myself, which makes me seem somewhat shy and quiet (edit: I mean SUPWR AWKWARD) on the first impression - the fact that I'm aware of it doesn't make it go away, sadly. However, after I get comfortable around people, I can become this... fluffy ball of hyperactive bouncing excitement. Uh, I mean, I am an open and communicative person!

PHILOSOPHY --

'Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and hope to land with both legs intact.'

For a long time, I went by the motto of saying yes to everything, every experience in life. This philosophy changed my life in a myriad of ways, but most importantly, it opened the world to me (and vice versa). However, lately I have gotten burned a few times so now I am trying to be a bit more careful with my choices - and still wondering whether that is a good thing or not. Where is the limit? This is what I'm trying to figure out right now.

There is a fundamental thing I am trying to live by in life; do what you would like having done to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Weeell, I used to have two lonely couches in my apartment in the Netherlands, and an even more lonely almost-double mattress! :)

Now I cannot host anymore because I am once again a poor little student, but we can always meet for a drink or a walk wherever I am right now!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE --

Hosted some lovely little souls & crashed a few couches in Budapest and Stockholm, as well as shared a small kitchen floor with four Polish guys, two Slovenian girls and a lovely Greek malaka!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like woman music. Happy music. Melancholic music. Folk. Sometimes metal music, but that's mainly while going uphill with my bike & dying doing it. Hipster music, if it's not too pretentious, and old yugo-rock that's filled with nostalgia.

Tori Amos, Tegan & Sara, Xavier Rudd, Mumford & Sons, Billie the Vision, they all yummylicious.

---

As for books, I like me some good fantasy; Bernard Cornwell, Chris Wooding and Joe Abercrombie.

The Bone People is one of the most beautiful books I've read, as is The Saskiad. Ronia the Robber's Daughter is my favourite book of all times, and one time I want to sit down and read all books by Astrid Lindgren, the most wondrous author of them all.

---

Movies? Huuuuh, let's see: Biutiful, Moulin Rouge, King Arthur, Little Miss Sunshine, Better than Chocolate are a few that come to mind. And of course animated movies; How To Train Your Dragon, Secret Of Kells, Despicable Me, All Dogs Go To Heaven... I'm a child, secretly, and I want to preserve the naivete that makes me cry at Lilo & Stitch. I can take almost anything (besides Tarantino's old movies) that's not horror/thriller, really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once filled out a questionnaire about Jesus just to get a free cookie.

Walking the Camino.

Discovering chocolate.

Realizing that life isn't about doing One Amazing Thing, but about building a myriad of tiny precious memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking is, next to horses, my life passion and I love doing anything connected with food (especially eating it, sadly). So far, I haven't poisoned anyone yet - but I like to experiment with food (read: throw together everything in the fridge).

I can tell you about ways to travel and live in other countries, especially if you're a young European, because this is the topic I know most about.

But please don't ask me to play an instrument.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, or wash dishes, or hoover! Cleaner from Eastern Europe! :D

But really just my own company and ears to listen to your stories.
