ABOUT ME

Moving around has always been my life. My family relocated around Western Canada while I was growing up so I got used to being "the new kid". It had its struggles but it also held many rewards. Being an optimist I focused on the rewards and as such I've had the travel bug ever since! My life is not complete unless I am on the road or have a trip in the near future. That being said, I'm still an amateur. I'm wise enough to know that I don't know anything and curious enough to ask even the "dumbest" questions. I love hearing people's stories so much that I rue the day t.v. was invented because it basically killed the art of everyday story telling. This is what drove me to study psychology; the idea of getting paid to listen to people's life stories was just too irresistible, but that can wait until I'm satisfied with the stamps in my passport!
I love to spend evenings with other people eating, drinking and talking. I especially like the nights that carry on from there to end in music and dancing. I'm very open minded and willing to try absolutely anything new so long as I don't think it's too dangerous...like playing chicken with a train.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel sayings like "Go with the flow"; "Be in the moment"; "The past is gone, the future is uncertain but today is a gift and that is why it's called the present"; really speak to me on a deeper level. Back home many people have gotten comfortable calling me a hippie but I like to think of myself as more of a bodhisattva. I believe that everything happens for a reason but that the reason is ultimately self defined. I believe in luck but I also believe in balance; what goes around comes around. I think this joke sums it all up pretty succinctly:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A long time ago, before couch surfing was created, wayyyyy back in 2003 I lived in Lake Louise. There, we all lived in a little shared accommodation condo community with the other staff from the hotels, hostels and ski resorts. There were always young "vagrants" sleeping on couches, floors and in spare bedrooms; on their way here or there or just living off what others would give them to eat or drink or smoke when they didn't have money. Everyone agreed that this was the way it should be and people were respectful of the charity they were given. It was sheer paradise.

Interests

I've done a lot of things and I want to do a lot more. I like water sports, winter sports, competitive sports and solitary sports. I like to play cards, read, write, sun tan, practice yoga...

Whitewater rafting the Kicking Horse River near Golden, B.C or surfing off the coast of Tofino, B.C. Recently helped relocate rhinos out of a high risk poaching zone.
