About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do a little bit of everything, all over the world, with everyone I meet along the way.

ABOUT ME

Such a broad, and thus useless, question.

I like to think I'm a pretty fun guy, and my preferences range from throwing down at an epic party to completely chilling out with some coffee and mellow music. I alternate between the two based on what mood hits me. See every other question for a better insight into the quintessential Zac-ness.

PHILOSOPHY

People matter; ergo, love & kindness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I consider the entire world to be like one of those "Give a penny, take a penny" jars that you see next to the register at convenience stores. Except with couches instead of pennies.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I won't list all of them, but they've been outstanding. I'm currently surfing across the US, and I've met some of the best people this way. It's a cool feeling, relying on other people's generosity. This is definitely a good thing.

Interests

Everything is interesting. Einstein said there are only 2 ways to look at the world: as if everything is a miracle, or as if nothing is. I go with everything.

But specifically, I'm into guitar, maps, computers, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, swing dancing, reminiscing, reading, environmentalism, learning languages, learning anything else, astrophysics, home projects (like building poker tables and bars), and most importantly, just hanging out and being ridiculous with the crazies I call my friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mostly classic rock. Eagles, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Elton John, Eric Clapton, JOURNEY, ELO, Queen, Manfred Mann (ok, honestly just "Blinded by the Light"), and tons of others. Blues Traveler, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Jason Mraz. But I'm always looking (or rather, listening) for new musics, so introduce me to your realm of melodies.

Movies: all kinds of stuff. I'm a sucker for good editing and clever writing (Ocean's movies and anything with Robert Downey Jr.). I like good mindless action flicks, but I'm also into the thought-provoking stuff as well. The inevitable list: A Scanner Darkly, Back to the Futures, most new super hero movies, including, but not limited to, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, and the new Avengers series that is in the works (now, on with the list), Becket, Bond movies, Dogma, bad '80s movies like Escape from New York, Wall-E, Lucky Number Slevin, Serenity, The Shawshank Redemption, man, I could seriously do this all day...

Books: Well-written theoretical physics surveys (I know, super lame), stuff by Richard Feynman, The Grapes of Wrath, The Bunny Suicides, Elie Wiesel books, Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, some Hemingway, some stuff by the Dalai Lama, and a book called The Days of Bravery, written by a very good friend of mine.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach: Swing dancing. I'm certainly not amazing at it, but I'm also not exactly a beginner. I can show you a few basic steps.

Want to learn: whatever you can teach me.
