Why do I feel like I'm typing up a personal ad?

I guess I'm at one of those transition points again. I have been teaching English for the past few years - spent over two years of that time in China.

Now, I'm teaching English in downtown Vancouver. It's a nice enough job. I finish at 3:30 every day and then have tons of time to do whatever I want.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to increase the amount of happiness in the world for myself and others.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was living in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia (China) from August 2007 to August 2008. I had a few couch surfers come through. I guess now that I'm settling down in Vancouver I'd like to see what kind of people roll through this part of the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couch surfing experience has been awesome. Inner Mongolia isn't the most thrilling place but the couch surfers I met never failed to make it seem new and interesting. It was nice, when I was in the same place for a year, to have some connection to others who are infected with the travel bug.

I saw amazing things every day in the two and a half years I spent living in the crazy, infuriating, wonderful country that is China.

Now, I'm working with the challenge of seeing the amazing things Vancouver has to offer. I know they are plentiful but there is work involved in seeing your home through the eyes of a traveler.

I can teach you some Chinese. My Chinese is not perfect, but it's conversational and I have a good idea of what you need to learn in the beginning.
