About Me

CURRENT MISSION
See new parts of the world--namely, asia, specifically aiming for China these days.

ABOUT ME

I've always wanted to experience life "as a local" around the world--to grow by experiencing new cultures and gaining different perspectives--and my work lets me do that, in theory. So far, I've visited south america, but now I want to check out the orient.

I'm a programmer by profession, I'm interested in most sciences, I'm open minded, free, I like to fly. I've always got a lot going on, software and hardware projects, I have a sometimes-green thumb and am fascinated with the world and how it works.

If you're visiting Montreal, drop me a line--and if you want to check out the nice scene/nightlife around here, I'll be glad to show you around.

P.S. I'd love to hear from putonghua speakers... attempting to get going in this difficult (for me) language...

PHILOSOPHY

"Live and let live" while we "Carpe Diem"!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host. I sometimes surf. I spread the word.

Interests

To me, being alive is about growth, always becoming more. I want to learn everything, and experience as much as I can.

I enjoy and am good at solving open ended puzzles, making space on the dance floor, thinking and talking about the universe, singing, drumming and guitaring (well, maybe not too good but meh I'll do it anyway!), fixing your computer, moving fast on two wheels, having weird ideas...

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite books would include Brave New World (Huxley), Hyperion (Simmons), Neuromancer (Gibson), 1984 (Orwell), Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury), Diaspora (Egan), Snow Crash and The Diamond Age (Stephenson), Selfish Gene (Dawkins), Meme Machine (Blackmore). I listen to Pink Floyd, Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, Black Sabbath, Green Day, NiN, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Doors, Deftones, Raised Fist, Billy Talent, My Ruin, Dead Kennedys, Dope, Disturbed and other stuff. I really liked watching Blade Runner, Matrix, Office Space, V for Vendetta and Fight Club.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A "real" mirage in the sahara desert. The wind pushing against me as the motorcycle rides the open highway. The awe of standing under a starry sky, looking up, and feeling the message of each photon as it strikes your retina after thousands of years travelling through space. Having a flash of insight, a "eureka moment".

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel we always win when we share what we know: it makes the world more than it was (without even costing anything!), it allows us to get to know each other, and often helps the teacher gain greater understanding in the process.

In terms of learning, right now my focus is on mandarin but really I'm interested in learning about almost everything.

Countries I’ve Visited
