ABOUT ME
Grew up in Singapore, lived and worked in Egypt, Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. Former journalist turned supper club host/communications professional. The plan: to take over the world, one hungry stomach at a time. Now based in NYC.
PHILOSOPHY
To live a non-linear life, to not be dictated by my 'CV', to keep appreciating the smaller things;
To constantly feel alive and live in the moment â easier said than done. When do I know I am truly alive and in the moment? I guess when I am not planning my next step. I think too many of us spend our time doing that â planning the future and letting the present slip by. I struggle with this on a daily basis.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far only surfed — in Lebanon, Syria and Israel, and Spain — and it has been a wonderful experience. The people we've met while couchsurfing really enriched our experiences of the various cities we visited. We've definitely made some awesome friends!
Scariest possible moment: when a giant scarab beetle strolled into the living room we were sleeping in. Fun. Our Israeli host very gallantly took a shoe and smashed it dead. Good training the IDF gives these fellas....
Bottom of the barrel moment: Living out of a stairwall for one day. Heaps of fun. Hope nobody was looking out through their peepholes while I was changing. Good story though.
Interests
I live to eat. Whether its through cooking on my own, trying out new restaurants or greedily going through cookbooks, food is my biggest passion. This is what led me to start my own secret super club.
Other than that, I love languages (my lifelong struggle with Spanish and Arabic), good literature, travel, living the life of an expat, cats, dancing, laughing, did I mention cats? oh and balmy summer nights.
