About Me
Hey there!
After graduating from high school, I asked myself the question "What's next?". I was so focused on doing well on exams that I didn't notice all my curiosity waning.
I ended up backpacking around Southeast Asia, maybe to find some purpose. Didn't quite find the purpose but found a new home in Vietnam. There I also learned to enjoy life and to follow my own rules.
#1 Never stress out about anyone else's timeline.
While my friends were doing their bachelor's degree, I fell in love with the freedom I had overseas, helped Vietnamese apprentices on their way to Germany, gave my heart away for the first time, tried different ways to make money, finally got more into web development and also experienced life as a divemaster in Malaysia.
Today I'm 23 years old and as eager as ever to work harder and grow into the person I want to be. Now I know that you don't find yourself, you create yourself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've spent a few months traveling around Southeast Asia, always following the banana pancake trail and spending time with other backpackers I've met in hostels. It was great at first, but after a while I realised that just visiting the main attractions, taking a few photos, ticking sights off my list and taking the bus to the next town is not enough for me. I wanted to get to know the culture.
In early 2019, I met Toàn at a couchsurfing event in Sài Gòn, Việt Nam. Not only did he show me around the city and introduce me to the best food I've ever eaten, but he also suggested I stay in the city for a month or two to experience expat life there. The originally planned one month turned into three years and Toàn has remained my best friend to this day.
When I travel, I don't care about the typical tourist attractions. I want to know how the locals live, where their favorite pub is and what hobbies they pursue in their free time. I would love to connect over common interests and share different opinions, beliefs and worldviews.
Couchsurfing is my chance to get out of the "tourist bubble" and make new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
To be honest I can't really say I have a favorite genre when it comes to music. My Spotify playlist is a wild mix, as I often add songs that I probably wouldn't have liked at first but that remind me of a great night out with friends, a visit to the karaoke bar, or some other beautiful memory. While I'm not tied to a genre, I can definitely share with you that I love live music. My friends and I used to go to acoustic bars in Việt Nam and it's one of my favorite ways to spend the evening.
I'm not a series/film junkie, but I like to go to the cinema from time to time. Especially if the caramel popcorn is good and the cinema isn't too cold. 🍿😁
The subtle art of not giving a f*ck, the paradox of choice, getting things done... you name it. I'm a huge fan of self-development books and I'm always excited to talk to you about your dreams, goals and purpose in life. I'm also open to book recommendations, but I need to let you know that there are already countless books waiting on my reading list. Can you relate?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2019 I hitchhiked from Phuket (Thailand) to Penang (Malaysia) within a few days. It was a great experience and I was stunned by how friendly and caring the locals were who offered me a ride. One of them was a police officer who drove me and my friend (who carried a huge backpack) to the next town on his motorbike.
In 2022 I lived on Tioman Island for two months to do my Divemaster internship which was one of the greatest experiences I have had so far!
Teach, Learn, Share
Have you ever dreamed of cooking super delicious food and would like to have someone to teach you the necessary skills? Well, unfortunately I can't help you there. I'm terrible at cooking. 😅 But I can show you how to design and set up the WordPress blog you've always wanted, help you take your German to the next level, and if there's a dive center nearby, why not going for a fun dive together? I would also be happy to join you for other outdoor activities and if you've always wanted to try hitchhiking, let's give it a try!
You can juggle, are a passionate horse rider, go skydiving every weekend or are the best bartender in town? Learning new skills and trying different hobbies is what I love the most. So in case you can spare some time, I'm more than grateful to learn more about your passion or talent. 💪🏼
