Overview
About Me
I am 26 years old and I currently work as an English teacher in Castro, Chiloe. I was born in London, England but lived most of my life in Kingston, Jamaica. I have an interest in web development and I am currently teaching myself software engineering. I hope to one day become good enough to start my own company!
I am extremely open minded regardless of a person's culture, religion, gender, skin color or sexual orientation. I genuinely love meeting new people and making new friends no matter what background they may come from. I'm more of a "stay home and chill with friends" type of person rather than a party animal. But I'm down to party when the time arises.
Jamaica is a diverse country made up of people with various skin complexions and socio-economic backgrounds and our hospitality to international visitors and unique culture makes us one of the most desirable tourist destinations in the world. Growing up around such a diverse culture has allowed me to adapt to any situation, no matter where I am in the world.
If you have any questions about me or Jamaica please feel free to message me :) I don't bite, I promise :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling the world, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. I had used Airbnb when I visited Toronto earlier this year and my experience was good. So I decided to look up other ways that would allow me to travel and meet people in different regions of the world, and as fate would have it I came across couchsurfing.
I plan to travel throughout South America some time next year because I have heard wonderful things about the people and culture there, especially in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. I am also excited to participate in cultural exchanges and am more than willing to share my Jamaican culture with other surfers! :)
Music, Movies, and Books
Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Orange is the new Black, any (decent) horror or comedy flick.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've lived through several hurricanes and survived a near death experience while surfing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I volunteered to teach English for 8 months with the Chilean government in a public high school in Castro, Chiloe. It was an amazing experience. I have a passion for teaching and helping people to become the best versions of themselves.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In terms of sharing, we Jamaicans have our own dialect of English known as "patois". I'm more than willing to share some Jamaican slangs and a few colorful Jamaican words with you guys! :)
I have also been told that I'm a great cook and I enjoy cooking for others more than I do for myself. So if you're willing to risk your life (kidding), I'm more than willing to cook for you as well! :)
