About Me

I want to make stories for radio/podcasts. Trying to figure out how to do that!

I grew up in a Midwestern college town, went to school in rural Massachusetts, and I've lived or traveled around most of the United States, from New Orleans to West Yellowstone, Montana. After undergrad I lived in Shanghai for about a year and traveled around SE Asia a bit.

I love to have great conversations, read interesting things, explore new places, climb things, eat delicious food, write, see live music, cut friends' hair, and plunk around on my guitar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel, love seeing things in places I never would have otherwise, love hearing great stories and having unexpected conversations.

I surfed in Cambodia for the first time and had a terrific time. Made some friends through cs in Shanghai and stayed with hosts in other parts of China as well. Haven't done much couchsurfing back in the States (through the website--plenty of crashing on friends' and friends-of-friends' couches!).

Interests

Radio/podcasts, education, dancing (badly but with enthusiasm!), reading/writing, languages, queerness, food and cooking, art/movies/music.

Music, Movies, and Books

In lieu of favorites, here are a few of the last I've watched/listened to/read:
Movies: The Princess Bride (still great!), Sideways, The Wind Rises
Music: Hurray for the Riff Raff, New Pornographers, Carolina Chocolate Drops
Books: The Empathy Exams by Leslie Jamison, Infinite Jest by DFW...making headway...slowly

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stayed up all night talking to my best friend on the curb in front of her house and rode my bike home at sunrise.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Random points of English grammar, how to cut an onion (it's an art)
Learn: Making tasty food, languages, guitar, dance moves
Share: Stories, haircuts, drawings

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Japan, Mauritius, Nicaragua, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam
